I have stayed here twice when walking C2C and decided to book a 5 night stay to complete the Central Fells. A fabulously peaceful place to stay, fantastic location, food and staff. Full board option perfect for long days on the fells.

This was the loveliest place to stay. I was so happy to have been allocated the Bothy. Imagine how wonderful it is to open your door to be greated by beautiful mountains and a calm 'garden' each morning. I slept so well in my comfy bed. The room was spotlessly clean and I had all I needed. The staff were welcoming and helpful. The food was plentiful and delicious and served with a smile. I went alone but was part of a lovely group of people who like myself had signed up for one of the art holidays. This was an absolute pleasure to have been a part of. The art days were fabulous. I never felt alone. If you want a bit of space, there are lots of places to find your own little piece of calm in the grounds. The friendly red squirrel might appear if you're lucky. Car parking was an absolute bonus and I walked into the village many times. It was only a few minutes pleasant walk away. A really lovely stay. Thanks to all. 

We booked this through Booking.com and we’re a little worried as we are not Quakers. However we should not have worried. Everyone was so friendly, nothing was too much trouble, there was tea and coffee on tap, lovely gardens or areas inside to sit and enjoy the tranquility, even after we had checked out. We were able to leave our car whilst we had places in Grasmere to go to. Everywhere was spotless, lovely big room , brilliant shower, and the food was excellent. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. We felt so comfortable, and it’s only a short walk into Grasmere. Loved it

Warm welcome, great location on the edge of Grasmere though close enough to walk to the centre in a few minutes, lovely grounds and views, facilities were fine though the bathroom was a bit tired. Helpful staff and we enjoyed our three course dinner and our breakfast

In what is likely to be my last visit to the Lake District (time, distance, and my elderly mother not being able to manage), the Glenthorne came up trumps.  Lovely food, kind staff, nothing was too much trouble. I would recommend this establishment to anyone.

So pleased to find Glenthorne open once again. If anything the steps the team have taken to make the guest house covid-secure have improved what was an already good service. The team are extremely thoughtful in everything they do. 

Glenthorne Guest House is a special place indeed. Whether you want to sit back and relax in picturesque surroundings, step out on the fells or enjoy the delights of Grasmere village, Glenthorne is a great location for a holiday.

I’m not a Quaker, but stayed for two nights, I can only say two of the best nights sleep I have ever had, the rooms are very clean and much better than other higher priced hotels I have stayed in, I enjoyed the food, is basic but very good, as we had dinner one night, breakfast was excellent, the position of this hotel can’t be beat, close enough to the village and pubs and restaurants, but far enough away so you don’t get disturbed, it’s just a special place! The staff are very helpful!, I can’t Waite for an excuse to return, that’s how good it is!

Lovely relaxing place. Friendly staff who knew their job! Nothing was too much trouble. Comfortable rooms, bed comfortable, good en-suite. A good mix of guests, who mixed well. Excellent food, near enough to the centre of Grasmere to walk to get your Grasmere gingerbread! Will go again,

Singles couples and groups all mingled . Warm welcome included free afternoon tea.
Comfortable rooms, glorious gardens, so peaceful yet five minutes from bustling village of Wordsworth’s Grasmere. Good walks straight from the house. Excellent food. Three choices inc veggie. First night. We ate ..grilled goats cheese and beetroot relish, plaice stuffed with crab, and poached pear in red wine. House wine. Ample breakfasts especially for walkers.

Once again a relaxing and enjoyable stay. The room was comfortable and clean, with fully cooked breakfasts and tasty evening meals. Staff were friendly and helpful. I would recommend this for a reasonably priced and comfortable stay in the Lake District.
