What a lovely place to stay and visit the Lake District.  Very comfortable room, absolutely lovely breakfasts and good value.
The hosts were extremely personable and helpful. The location was very handy for the town meals and buses etc. I thoroughly recommend!

Excellent stay family of 4, 2 adults, 2 children aged 10 & 15. Large family room, double bed, double sofa bed and single bed. Place very clean, large bathroom with bath and shower. Central location, free parking and very friendly hosts. Would defo stop again 😊 x

Definitely one of the best B&Bs we've stayed in. All the things you'd want in the way of location, ample parking, clean and comfortable room, towels changed daily, excellent breakfast and friendly hosts plus lots of extra little thoughtful touches. There was always a fresh bottle of drinking water with a good variety of coffees, teas, hot chocolate and biscuits replenished daily.  A good supply of wooden hangers in the wardrobe and plenty of drawer and storage space. We spent 4 nights here and whilst the weather was atrocious we very much enjoyed our stay at Rothay House.

Ample parking for guests, only a few rooms so quite peaceful. Easy check in and out process. Host was lovely, great attention to detail and very hospitable.
Great selection at breakfast and all local produce, it was delicious.
The room was immaculate, lovely selection of tea/coffee etc. Nice to see recycling in the rooms available.

Stayed last week,2 nights stay,excellent attention to detail by proprietors,lovely  decor,spacious and warm room.and brilliant breakfast with lots of choice,quality produce. Very good location,just a short walk into centre of Ambleside.Highly recommended.

Darren and Debbie are wonderful hosts. Our room was modern, tasteful and well appointed. Hygiene was superb. Breakfast was excellent with an extensive choice for all tastes. This is a well located B&B with close proximity to the main area of Ambleside. Further, it has private parking at the rear which is brill because parking in Ambleside is at a premium. We are regular visitors to Ambleside and this is one of the nicest places we have stayed. Excellent value for money.

We arrived early & were allowed to come in & wait for our 4 friends arriving.
Darren & Debbie are so friendly and welcoming, they even contacted us asking if we wanted all rooms set up as doubles or singles before we arrived. They were also very helpful on places to go for walks etc.
Rooms immaculately clean & breakfast was fantastic.
Pity the rain meant we couldn’t use the outdoors seating but being allowed to sit in the breakfast room and talk, bring in take aways & Birthday cake was really very handy.
Very comfy beds.
Parking & electric car charging on site.
We would all go back and highly recommend Rothay House.

Arrived here early but were able to check in immediately. Beautiful location, ample parking and our hosts were very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble.
Bedroom and bathroom were immaculate with everything you could possibly need. The breakfast was excellent, loads of choice and very well presented. Darren and Debbie even let us leave our car there after check out so we could have one more walk around for last minute gift shopping. Would highly recommend Rothay House to anyone and we will definitely be back, faultless.

Spent a couple of nights here, room was small but very clean. Had good coffee and tea making facilities and were replenished daily. Fresh drinking bottle of water and some nice biscuits. Nice sitting room next door to our room and had a good selection of cereals, fruit, yoghurts and pastries with jams and marmalade. Nice selection on the menu for the main breakfast, full English, options of scrambled eggs, beans, poached eggs on toast with salmon etc. Hosts were nice and accommodating and were available throughout our stay if we needed any information about the area, nice places to eat and visit etc. Had the bonus of a car park with free parking which was a massive bonus as its very hard to park in and around Ambleside. One minor issue was the tight turn coming off the main road into the car park which you can easily miss as the sign for the guest house is after the turn in. Did have a couple of cars not expecting me to turn off the main road so indicating early was a must. Generally we had a nice stay and would recommend to others as it has the bonus of free parking.

We where invited to a wedding and needed to book some where to stay in Ambleside and luckily for us we booked Rothay House. I booked but a problem with the card expiry date meant I had to contact Darren and make some further arrangements which all went without a hitch. Fast forward to fri 6th May and a hassle free check in was the start to our 2 nights at Rothay House. A great quiet nights sleep was followed by a fantastic full breakfast on both mornings and nothing was too much trouble for our happy hosts. Highly recommended

Lovely Lakeland Wedding Weekend

We have had a fantastic stay at Darren and Debbie’s . We were returning again we always get a warm welcome and love the central aspect of Rothay House. The rooms are spotless with fantastic views. There is ample parking. We also love the Breakfasts which are always plentiful with a great variety on the menu. This is a true gem in the Lakes and we will return again soon hopefully!

Another lovely weekend in Ambleside, 1st time at Rothay House and we weren’t disappointed. Darren & Debbie offer up a warm reception. The room was ensuite double which was spacious, spotless, comfortable bed and good facilities. The wife loved the locally sourced hand wash and shower gels which smelled gorgeous. Breakfast was fantastic full english for me and poached eggs on wholemeal toast for the wife (bread was homemade and a real treat). Location is ideal being 5mins from town centre and waterhead pier. Easy to find and free parking to boot. Lovely surprise from the hosts a lovely bottle of wine for our anniversary which was greatly appreciated and a nice touch! Thanks again to Darren & Debbie.
