The owner of the property is very  accessible and helpful, the property is well maintained, clean and spacious. The location is close to all of the town amenities and the rates are very reasonable.

Very lovely Host/Owner unique charm, plenty of outdoor spaces to enjoy, my particular room had a beautiful view. Bathroom could have been better.

Phyllis is a great host. The house is on top of a hill over looking Cruz Bay. The views were great. We were there 2 nights and she supplied us with bacon and eggs to cook for breakfast, cokes, sprites, tequila, vodka, rum, Bloody Mary mx, coffee, tea, 2 gallons of water. The rooms have small kitchens in them. This place was a great value. I highly recommend it and Phyllis.

Nice island retreat close to town.  Was given every thing that was asked for.  The owner checked with us randomly throughout our stay to be sure all of our needs had been met.  The fridge was stocked and fresh fruit on the counter.

My sister rented, long term, from Phyllis for many years.  I had the pleasure of visiting my  sister 3 times for incredible week or longer vacations.  

The accommodations are laid back island style.  If you want the true island experience,  stay here.  if you need perfection stay some place else.  This is a place that is taken care of by wonderful woman with a big heart.  I stayed about 40 total days over time and I never had a feeling of regret.  Actually, I felt gratitude for a humble piece paradise to lay my head.  

To help you understand the close feel of a family atmosphere, I came out one morning to find the owner (Phyllis), a bit distraught.  She had a flat tire.  I didn't think twice, I put myself to work and changed her tire.  How many places would you stay and have an overwhelming feeling to give service to the property owner?

We have stayed at the Hillcrest Guest House several times and will stay there again on our next trip.  Clean and comfortable and conveniently located.  The fridge is always well stocked.  There is a lovely courtyard with beautiful plants and flowers.

The fridge was stocked nicely with breakfast items and plenty of liquid refreshments!

Quiet and convenient to everything. Close to town, yet private.

Great location for Cruz Bay- we were walking and yes, the most direct route is a very steep hill.  The bed was different than our Sleep Number- felt several springs!

We were on St. John for 3 nights and the location is pretty ideal for the price as it’s very close to the shops and restaurants of Cruz Bay.  It definitely has the feel of staying with a local as compared to a hotel or resort.  The room was one of the most spacious rooms we have ever had, and there were really nice complimentary items in the refrigerator and in the closets for use (beach chairs, coolers).  I would stay here again for sure, but that’s because I don’t need the glitz and glamour of a resort. I found the hospitality from Phyllis welcoming and it was more of authentic stay in St. John. The balcony was also great with views looking down on Cruz Bay.

3 nights in St. John- great stay close to Cruz Bay

We enjoyed our stay in the Tropical Guest Suite.  The apartment is spacious, with a bedroom, good sized living area (with futon), small dining area, kitchen and bathroom.  The suite had access to a nice balcony with views into Cruz Bay.  The entrance was via a covered porch, which we found pleasant.  There is not daily housekeeping, but we were able to exchange our towels on the third day of our stay with no fuss.  The owner was pleasant and responsive, and we were able to park right in front of the property.  The walk up the hill is steep, as others have mentioned, but doable for us.  We missed having a pool, but we felt the property was a good value, especially during high season.
