Portakal Hotel Dalyan

Just returned from a week stay at Portakal and can’t wait to get back. We are a family of 8, 6 adults, 2 children under 12 and stayed in the last week of summer term. We read previous reviews and were excited to see what the place had on offer, and we were not disappointed. From the moment we arrived, the team made us feel at home and there was a sense of familiarity despite the fact this was our first time to Dalyan. The rooms are spotless, spacious and welcoming with a lovely décor. The housekeeping staff are friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble (we asked for an extra blanket as I get chilly even in 37-degree heat!). My husband and I had a ground floor room with terrace which is just perfect, plus it’s a hop, skip and a jump to the breakfast room, pool and bar 😉. The kids interconnecting room was brilliant and there was so much space. We were concerned that being summer holidays that the pool would be busy, but there were plenty of beds and the gardens were always a quiet if you want to escape it all. Breakfast is served from 8am to 10pm and we found that around 8:30 was a lovely time to go and fill up. Everyone just helps themselves and its so tranquil you can sit peacefully and contemplate the day ahead. The waiting staff work really hard and always have a smile on their face. We spent much of our time around the pool, with the exception of a few days out to Turtle Beach via the water taxi that you book at reception and pick up at the hotel’s jetty. We also hired a private boat locally (absolutely smashing day and great value – Thanks Ege). The bar staff were absolutely lovely guys. They work so hard and make everyone feel special. Make sure you get at least one long island iced tea cocktail when you are there – it will knock your socks off! Portakal is exceptionally good value for money and exceeded our expectations. With two young ones in tow, we could only go in Summer Holidays, however, the holiday itself and the hotel prices are really fair, and we had the most amazing time.
