These two huts were perfect for my wife and I and our friends. We enjoyed morning coffees on the porch looking out at the ocean, and evening beverages listening to the waves roll in. 

Very private and large property right on the beach. Papiloa was accommodating and friendly and we were happy to support a local business.

Perfect!

We loved our stay here. We loved the simple Tongan style accommodation. There are only 3 fales set in beautiful tropical gardens where guests are allowed to pick their own pawpaw and coconuts. It is private, secure and quiet, set beside the best snorkelling beach in Tonga with the use of kayaks. The coral is amazing to the right of the beach but you need to be careful to go when it’s calmer and lower tide. We saw whales swim past from the family unit we were staying in. The flying foxes (bats) visit the section each evening. We recommend hiring a car as you are 30 minutes from town and this allowed us to see the sights. Papiloa is an amazing owner and was incredibly informative and friendly. Our 8 year old daughter loved her too.

There are three free standing fales.  Fale 1 and 2 are identical. They have covered patios with tables and chairs and ocean views.  The ocean is about 50 meters from the   property through two locked gates.  Fale 1 and 2 have a kitchen area inside that is pretty wall stocked.  Fale 1 had a rice cooker, drip coffee maker and many other kitchen gadgets. The shower had great pressure and HOT water.  The mosquito net is one that is hung from four points vs a single center point.  This makes it a lot easier to avoid touching it while sleeping. There is a washing machine. There is a TV that we never turned on and internet.  You are given 5gb for our stay (you might be able to get more). There are two single and one double kayak. There are ~4 hammocks (2 functional) and 2 tire swings.  Each unit has 3-4 beach lounge chairs.  Unit 2 is closer to the gate to the beach, but unit 1 had a better "outside" area.  The units are close together and we could hear the children talking from next door, but not the adults. It is not a luxury place, but I would not call it "basic".  The snorkeling has a ton of fish and not great coral.  The best coral is off the end of the beach to the right of the fale.  They will arrange transport to the property for 70TOP and will do a car rental for 50TOP/day.  We rented through someone else and picked up the keys at the Friendly Islander on the way into town. The water is desalinated and does not taste good.  We were given 10 liters of rainwater (we probably could of asked for more). The Vakaloa "cultural night" is 40TOP and within walking distance.  If you want a traditional cultural night, it is not for you.  If you want one where there were only 15 westerners and over 50% Tongans with the announcements in Tongan that is a mix of a dance party and cultural night, this is your place.

Great Stay

Fiona was very helpful and efficient.  The Fale is right on the beach - although you do have to go through 2 locked gates - which seemed a bit pointless as you could easily get onto the property without going through the gates!  The swimming right in front was beautiful.  The Fale had everything we needed - was perfect for us.

A lovely little bungalow on the beach. Quiet and secluded it's best to have a car to get around.

We had such a lovely stay at Teukava Beach Oasis - the accommodation is simple, clean and had everything we needed. The location is secluded and private and the beautiful beach and coral reef are right on the doorstep. Mana, Papiloa and the Friendly Islander team were so wonderful, helping whenever they could. Would highly reccommend for a relaxing getaway. Bring a snorkel!

We stayed with a family of 4 for 7 days, and it worked for us. There was enough space for us with a bathroom, kitchen/diner, 2 bedrooms and a sitting room. It is all very basic, but it works. This is not a place where you want to stay inside, as the beach is on the doorstep with great snorkelling or just lazing in a hammock in the extensive and well maintained garden. Free kayaks were also available for guests.
Half an hour's drive from town with little options for transport makes a rental car a good choice. This can be provided by the owners at a reduced rate.
Arriving at night we took the recommended taxi from the airport, and the taxi driver had been given the key. We used this driver whenever we needed a taxi.
In all, we had a great time on the beach and watching a million stars at night.

Basics at the beach

This place is on the west side of the island, about 30min drive from town. A car to get there is recommended as there isn't much around and you need to get keys from the owners who own a hotel in town. Not the easiest place to find. No signage and the front gates are locked. I would hate to try to find it at night. I had originally booked one of the front fales (two wood type houses). However we were "upgraded" to a little house at the back of the fales. The little house is a bit of a throw together. We were told by a local that it was actually a shed that was converted. Not professionally built and had some clear faults. Doors didn't close properly. Toilet blocked often and shower wasn't sealed so water was going into the adjoining wall which I suspect will rot in a matter of months (it's only a fews weeks old). We actually made the mistake of closing the bedroom door and found the handle didn't work so couldn't get out. Bit of a worry but fortunately there was a family member in the other side. Despite all this, the house did its job for a couple of nights and the beach is right next to it. The bedding and towels were clean. They have a little kitchen and utensils to use if you want to self cater but there is some lovely food served up across the road at Holty's. I wouldn't want to stay at Teukava long term. The lady who gave us the keys was helpful and gave us a mobile wifi devise which was handy. I feel the front fales are of better quality so perhaps specify one of these and not the back house.
