Renaissance Koh Samui Resort & Spa

We had a great experience at the Renaissance Koh Samui. We stayed the last 5 nights here, and it has a small boutique hotel vibe with the high quality standards of a Renaissance. I am a Platinum Bonvoy member and stayed at one of the Ocean front Villas. I got the usual benefits of free breakfast for two but note that there is no lounge as expected at a Resort. The view from our villa was magical in the mornings and the evenings (attached picture). The service exuded typical Thai warmth while not being very intrusive. The restaurants and the bar are relatively small as expected of a hotel this size. And I am glad this is not another of those mega resorts. There are enough loungers at the small beach and the pool never felt too crowded. The breakfast was not very extensive but had most things covered (including a really spicy Bloody Mary to jumpstart your mornings). We didn’t use the Gym or the Spa at the Hotel - we ended up going to other Spas; there are as many spas as there are restaurants in Samui I guess! Location wise, it’s situated at a relatively quiet place in Lamai, and one can walk to many restaurants and spas nearby. Maiya and the rest of the team helped us choose and book the right activities and a Van trip to Phuket (including a Ferry ride). The only thing we didn’t like, was probably the beach which wasn’t very usable during low tides; and we wish we stayed a few more days here. We hope to be back again (and soon).
