57 reviewsPersonally I loved this place but can understand all the negative reviews, as this place is not for everyone. I will try to give a balanced view. If you want luxury or a full service modern resort , you better avoid Koh Mook. Koh Mook is a very scenic island with a local village and decent prices for everything, so it makes a great base for people who love to explore and also relax. This resort has rundown rooms and loose dogs on the beach and around the resort, but a lot of Koh Mook is like this. The beach has a lot of mud and small stones when the tide goes out, and wifi reception isn't the best! Kayakers and hikers will really appreciate this place as long as you dont want luxury. Now the positives, very good aircon, large bungalows if you book Mook villas away from the swimming pool and away from any noisy guests (as some backpackers can be noisy at night staying here and generally pick the cheaper pool rooms) if you want a resort jungle setting, with 3 free double kayaks, breakfast included, free water tea and coffee etc in the rooms aswell as nice balconies with seaview and jungle surrounding you, you will love it. Its a typical Thai old fashioned resort with a great location for kayaking, or walking 10 minutes to the village for shopping, eating, or the jetty to see loads of seacows in the sea up close. Also you are very close to the start of the walk to the viewpoint and also the walk to sabai and ko dung beaches- all fantastic. This resort is at the end of the village on the beach surrounded by jungle and is normally very quiet-depending on type of guests staying. You are on the opposite side of the island to Charlies beach. I am not keen on dogs everywhere but it didn't really bother me. Unfortunately it was the behaviour of some Western guests thinking they are clever feeding their breakfast to the dogs in the breakfast area and at the table, which is pretty disgusting. The swimming pool is very good and clean with lovely seaviews and the whole feel here is very relaxed and friendly. The price is good too for what you get. I kept extending and will definitely be back as you can kayak to Emerald cave from here aswell as around most of the island including the stunning Sabai and Charlies beaches.
