K.B. Resort (SHA Extra Plus)

My wife and daughter stayed here for 2 nights renting a pair of the beach front cottages. The resort is on the west side of the island so it faces the gulf's body with a very long shallow beach. Each cottage sleeps 2, so my college-bound daughter got her own place. Sept is low season, so at $75/night USD, that's a steal! The cottage was big enough for a bed, bench for one luggage, and a large lounging chair. There was space to get around but not huge and not a problem for this great location. The bathroom is large, providing dispensers of soap and shampoo in the shower but not much else other than towels and a TV. They do provide a small room safe and extra towels for swimming in a small closet. All was more than adequate. Each cottage also has a private deck with a large 2-person wicker chair, a small table, and a bench. These cottages are 20 steps to the beach with an amazing view. The beach is reasonably clean, and they do patrol for garbage in the morning so they do what they can. There is a large pool that is very cool! It has a 2nd story jet pool large enough for a dozen people and the excess water spills over th3 edge down the wall into the main pool. A slide ends in a shallow kiddie pool, so if you're older than 10, you're probably gonna bottom out or hit the wall, so be careful! It's still fun, though! The food was very good. My thai wife approved of several dishes we had, and my western, vegetarian daughter really enjoyed the tofu dishes and fruit. Breakfast (free w our room) provided a good variety of western and thai offerings, but the juices were very sweet, probably not fresh, but this might be seasonal? Menu prices were reasonable for the taste. There is a bar at this hotel, with swinging chairs, non the less! Overall, it was a great experience. We got lucky with no rain till our last night, and some awesome lightning/thinder storms out at sea. We will definitely return to this place at some point, especially if entertaining visiting friends, but we like to try new places, too. This resort is close to shops, banks, and 7-11, not isolated. I'm certain this place is more expensive during high season but still likely worth the cost. Off-season risks storms and warm rain but a pool and beach to yourself is pretty nice!
