Honeymoon Hotel

The staff were helpful and kind. Although they don't speak English, they have a mode of communication with non-Chinese speaking guests. Free toiletries, drinking water, tea bags, cups, fridge, USB charger, a lot of sockets. Very good breakfast delivered on the agreed hour. Excellent location 2 minutes on foot from a bus stop to / from Taipei or Alishan.

(1) Pretty nice location: Very close to Shuishe Visitor Center n Bus Sta, pretty close/walking distance to Shuishe Pier, right next to 7/11, couple of restaurants nearby.
(2) Looked a lil unpromising outside, pretty nice and comfortable inside.
(3) We booked Economy Double Room for NT$1400 (with bfast) via Booking.com n hotel only accepted pay@Hotel. Upon check-in, they offered us whether to stay with bfast option or without bfast (NT$1300). Bfast was simply sandwich n coffee/tea for two. We chose w/o bfast option n paid slightly cheaper than booking price. Despite so, we're given free upgrade to a NT$1700's room (said with wider space) :)
(4) Offered Buy1Get1Free deal for boat round-trip ticket: We paid NT$300 for two round-trip tickets instead of for one ticket.
(5) Got Hot-warm-cold water dispenser outside the room (guess it's available at each floor).
(6) Allowed me to borrow their phone to call NTBus Sun Moon Lake Sta Service Number to clarify about bus seat reservation.
(7) There're umbrellas to borrow for free.

Sun Moon Lake is, at most, an overnight trip. We arrived at night and then spent the next day doing the boat trip, cable car, bus around the lake, and bike ride. You stay here to be an efficient, especially if you have luggage. The Nantou bus from Taichung stops and leaves from the visitor center, which is literally 2-3 minute walk from this hotel. There'a 7-11 next door. Plenty of bike rentals nearby and the pier for boat launch is 5 minute walk. In short, it's a place to sleep one night, store luggage the next day, while you explore Sun Moon Lake. And when you're done exploring, you grab your luggage, and walk 2-3 minutes to the visitor center to get on the bus back to Taichung to either catch the TRA or HSR trains to your next destinations. It's quite convenient location. The hotel and room themselves are nothing to highlight besides they are functional. The staff are incredibly friendly and provided good, quick info in English on how to maximize your full day at lake.

Hotel is smacked in the middle of a busy road with many shopping activities. Food and eateries at reasonable price is available all around. Hotel receptionist is friendly and helpful and it has a lift. 

Triple room is big and spacious, room overlooking the street and way across the street with view of a lake (that's the 'room with lake view'). Bathroom is clean with the basic toiletries and clean towels and hot water shower.

An excellent price / value relation 

Basically looks like a cheap love hotel (but is not a love hotel). 
The staff don’t speak any English but are helpful enough. 

The breakfast is brought to your room but it’s just a bunch of crap that was seemingly bought from the 7/11 downstairs. Who wants to eat a bag of packaged prawn chips for breakfast ?? At least when we left a sign on the door requesting no meal the next day, they refunded us 150元.

The biggest problem is that on the second night/morning there was NO HOT WATER at all in our room. Thankfully we were travelling in warm weather or showering would not have been possible.
