Chalet de Kalbermatten is a lovely and picturesque hotel - brand new, clean, gorgeous to look AT, with breathtaking alpine views. Friendly staff and a nice bar and breakfast, too. A few important points when booking: 1) This is NOT a hotel from which to do many day trips. It is AT LEAST 45 minutes up a large mountain with INSANE sharp alpine hairpin turns which you need to take at 1st or 2nd gear (do it in the daylight and 100% stone cold sober). The highway below is a harrowing, guard-rail free drive, and quite far away. Best to just STAY here for a few days and not leave. 2) Neither the hotel name nor address will not show up on rental car or iPhone GPS. Just keep driving up the hill - VERY far up the hill. Hotel is next to another place called Hostelerie Ardeve, so if you see signs for that hotel, you're in the right place. 3) All staff are very nice, but not everyone speaks English. Best to bone up on your Francais. I still recommend Chalet de Kalbermatten, as long as you can just camp out there for a few days and don't intend to go up/down every day.
