Arthotel Tornedalen

Words fail us to describe how amazing this hotel is and all that they offer. It is a once in a lifetime experience in every way. Simmi, Alma and Kalle are a fabulous team and really welcoming and generous with their time and knowledge. Nothing was too much trouble and they hosted us very warmly, and the activities they arranged were amazing. Alma and Simmi were both fabulous cooks - on the outdoor lunch and Simmi for dinner. The cross country skiing was amazing and Kalle was so patient. The DogSledging was like nothing we have ever experienced before and the generosity of time for us for our ‘private’ trip was incredible. We flew into Lulea but Rovaniemi is closest! Simmi kindly arranged a transfer taxi for us and nothing was too much trouble. It was very cold however it’s never the weather that’s wrong only the clothing! We took layers and salopettes which was great outdoors, and we didn’t mind the -24 when we were in our beautiful little House Kristina, which was really warm and comfortable. This is not a big hotel, it is a personal dream of the owner and the team to preserve all that is wonderful about the cultural heritage of the area and it is certainly does this. Everything felt really carefully thought through as to its impact on the environment to the awareness of nature and the serenity of it and all it has to offer. It really did make you wonder just what you miss in our busy daily lives. Everything was beautiful, from the communication pre our visit to the end of our trip. We arrived at the Arthotel as strangers but never felt this in our entire time and cannot recommend this wonderful hotel more. If we are this way again we would stay in a heartbeat. This has left a mark in our hearts as a once in a lifetime experience. Don’t hesitate to stay, and perhaps one day we shall return.
