Wallhalla Bed & Breakfast

Great experience. Very cosy in a snowy winteratmosphere. We enjoyed the hottub, sauna and went icefishing on the river close by. 
The delicious breakfast with a lot of selfmade bread was above expectations. We enjoyed it a lot, for us the perfect way to start the Christmas holidays.

I lived in Umea Sweden, many years ago. I just visited again but this time with my daughter. Staying here at Ing-Marie and Stig’s beautiful Swedish home was the perfect way for her to truly experience Sweden, even just for a few days. The home is beautifully styled, with traditional Swedish decor and feel. Each day Ing-Marie made the most wonderful traditional Swedish breakfast for us. We loved it, and she’s just the sweetest! Their home is just a short ten minute walk through a beautiful forest to a pristine sandy beach on the bank of the river. The surrounding area is gorgeous as well. There’s a famous ice cream place just down the road, with milk cows roaming below. Their place truly felt like home. We miss them already! If you get the chance to visit wallhalla, it’ll be the trip of a lifetime! Wendy

Stig and Ing-Marie are very nice and welcoming you very warmly at their bed and breakfast. They really care that you feel comfortable! 

The rooms and apartments are really made for having a relaxing stay and the garden is very very well taken care of. A lot of vegetables and fruits and flowers in the garden. 

Our expectations were surpassed!

Potatoes that had been dug up 2 hours prior, jam from their blooming berry bushes, apple crumble from their fruit trees, homemade bread, soup from garden vegetables and on and on - a feast of wonderfully tasty food nearly all grown on site. The rest..it's peace and tranquility, warmth and comfort. Freedom to delve into the 200 year history of the buildings, or not. Swim in the river, or not. Talk recipes with the hosts, or not. Just simple, wonderful, genuine hospitality with no detail left unconsidered.

We, a sporty family, enjoyed our stay at B & B Wallhalla. During the 4 days we made optimal use of the sporting opportunities in the area, ie skating, cross-country skiing, skiing and dog sledding. Very cool. The owner Stig helped us a lot to arrange all this. During our stay we were very pampered by Stig and in particular Ing-Marie's cooking was excellent. She even took our allergies into account. The house is beautiful. And we liked the sauna and tub. All in all, highly recommended.

Extremely nice and helpful hosts, who guaranteed a warm and relaxing atmosphere.  We became immediately friends. Impressive nice house, perfectly renovated, spacious room, spectacular breakfast, all homemade. We definetely come back to this beautiful place.

I ve seen alot of B&Bs in my life, and i must say this is the best I have ever been to! 
It is the perfect place for an authentic swedish experience with warm and welcoming hosts. Ingmarie is the best cook i have come across and the quality of the food that she prepares is amazing. We also had great conversations with Stig and they are always willing to help with organizing all the outdoor activities. ..and for those who want to relax and forget about all their troubles can enjoy an incredible experience in the sauna and hot tub outside while looking at the nordic lights. 
The place itself is very historic and well kept and clean. We felt like staying at a historic museum. it is very authentic, since the owner’ s family has been living in the house for centuries and they kept most of it in the old traditional swedish style.
so we HIGHLY recommend this place and hope you will have an incredible experience like we did!


My family (two adults, two children, 5 and 9) had an incredible week at Wallhalla in early January. We'll never forget the gorgeous pink light on the snow, the cute red houses and the elemental natural surroundings, but most of all the warmth of Ing-Marie and Stig will stay with us always. This is a very special place, and I can't recommend it highly enough.

We recently had a wonderful visit to Wallhalla. Our time spent was enriching, connecting with the local community and admiring the beautiful landscape. Our hosts were lovely, warm people who I plan on keeping in touch with. There was a great hot tub and sauna too which provided great bonding for our family! Highly recommend Wallhalla!

I brought my girlfriend for a surprise weekend to Wallhalla to celebrate her birthday. The place has many unique elements and cultural details, and the staff was very nice and helpful. The food they cooked for us was delicious. Alltogether was a very romantic and enjoyable stay.

Wonderful Winter Wonderland Wallhalla

Beautifuly landscape, delicious breakfast and home-made dinner. Lots of activities (e.g. rafting, horse-back riding, hiking) were organised and recommended by Ing-Marie and Stig when we arrived. 
We had an amazing and very relaxing family holiday with lots of different activities at Wallhalla!
Can highly recommmend it.

What, you've never heard of Umea?  Well, we hadn't either until one of our friends got a job teaching at the University there.  So, we decided to explore and found a vibrant, gorgeous city with one of the BEST B&Bs we've ever seen!  This place is a year-round destination!  You can find exciting and wonderful things to do in every season and your vacation is really a VACATION!

You will be fed, pampered, respected and cared for (and about) during your entire stay.  The food is homemade FABULOUS, the house is SPOTLESSLY clean, and the hosts are interesting, engaging and inspiring.  They know and understand the world, the country and the culture of travelers.  No matter what your "joy", they will help you plan in any way YOU desire.

Oh, and BTW, if you have allergies; NO WORRIES!  Ing-Marie uses only completely natural cleaning products and you can count on a memorable experience while in her care.  And, she makes many of the rugs that cover the gorgeous wood floors too!

If you've never been to Umea, NOW is the time to go and see what Swedish hospitality is all about!  You'll be ever so delighted you made the trip!

This is a Destination Unto Itself

I stayed at Wallhalla with a work colleague for 5 nights. The warmth of the welcome, coupled with the wonderful food, nature and surroundings made this one of the most pleasurable work trips I have had! Most of the meals had ingredients grown in the garden and I sampled many traditional and contemporary Swedish dishes cooked to perfection. Fika was freshly baked still warm cakes. The outdoor hot tub watching the stars was lovely. There were plenty of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors with a local nature reserve, bikes and a quad bike. 
There must have been 10 different types of birds visiting along with a red squirrel :) I could go on... but suffice to say I will be back :)
