Villa Solliden vid Bråviken AB

Excellent stay for families close to the animal park Kolmården. Super-friendly staff, beautifully decorated interiors and lots of playing facilities for children indoors and outdoors. En suite shower/toilet in rooms in the main building. Small rooms but it works fine for a couple of nights. Free, well-working wifi. Enjoy :)

Cosy, friendly, 'homy'

The "Villa Solliden" is situated some 200 m from the Braviken bay, and having breakfast in summer on the terrace with its magnificent view over the bay is actually worth something. The staff is very friendly and helpful, breakfast is not necessarily like in a five star hotel but classy and tasty. Only thing daringly missing was espresso.
The whole venue would definitely be worth a longer stay if there weren't these exaggerated room fees, exaggerated at least for a german mind used to paying less than 100 Euros / night for a mid class double room. We stayed three nights and were to pay a good 500 Euros for the "Utsikten" room. It definitely has a view worthwhile, but no shower, and a ceiling lower than 2,20 m. Compared to most of the other rooms, it's almost spacious (15 sqm, approximately).
I still can't figure out why the price is that high; if it is because of the exuberant swedish taxes, I'd understand, but the only tax on my receipt was the 12% VAT. The worst issue for me was the fact that I had to take a walk over the hotel's grounds to the shower in the morning - a practice I'm only used to from youth hostels or camping sites but which I had so far never seen in a hotel (or, to be neat, a pension). 

A great place, though, if you want to spend a beautiful night out by a beautiful bay with good food served by friendly and welcoming people. Definitely no place to stay longer than a night (at least in the extra building) if you're not used to dressing before your morning shower. And, in any case, quite expensive for the standard of rooms.

marvelous site, far too expensive

I spent one night at this conference hotel. The food was good, but that's it. The room was cold. There were no blinds on the window and there was a lamp outside. There was no shower in the room. The breakfast was not served when we agreed. At 05:45 a fog horn started to sound (!!). In summary, the staff was nice, but the standard is simply not up to the level it should be.
