Lovely spacious resort with kitchenette which could easily accomodate 5 pax. The in-room sauna was great!
Awesome view and very good breakfast spread at hotel restaurant. We had plenty of snow on Feb 10. Some children were learning to ski. 
 Enjoyable stay!

Its such a beautiful and nice place to stay in Winter. However you will need to walk and drag your baggage down to the log cabins yourself in Winter as the roads are all covered in snow. Rooms are very comfortable to stay, complete with kitchenette, clothes dryer, heater. Views around the whole area is so magnificent, the lake and mountains. We just have to come out of the cabins to enjoy the Aurora Northern Lights. Great value great stay.


The first row of cottages have an amazing view of the snow capped mountains and of the lake, which, of course, was frozen in Feb.
We traveled with a 2 n half year old. And we’re very glad we picked Kappas Cabin Village. Comfortable and clean cottages. Good amenities. Friendly, helpful and courteous staff up at the hotel lobby and in the restaurants. And all this at an affordable price. Would definitely recommend this place to fellow travelers.

A very cozy cabin with a fridge and even a dishwasher (we noticed as we cleaned up before checking out, lol). We had great views from our cabin, unfortunately we didn't have clear skies when we had the time to explore the location and when we were at the cabin it was dark so couldn't really see anything outside.

The digital thermometer was broken but we realized (also on the last day) that there was actually an analogue one by the sauna that worked.

Can't say too much about the beds, we had late nights and early mornings so we would probably have slept well either way, but nothing to complain about here.

This location was a good starting point for a lot of the tours in Abisko, Hotell fjället lies just above the cabins, only about a couple of minutes walking distance (depending on your cabins location of course).

The wifi was not the best, in the room with the double bed I had no reception at all.

Would book a cabin again in a heartbeat!

We were 2 families with kids and rented 2 cottages using Booking,com. Village has perfect location for hiking around in summertime. Cottages really very well equipped and each had sauna, drying cabinet and special drying rack for boots. This is all absolutely must not only in winter time, but in summer time too if you plan do hiking around. We did not used restaurant, so no opinion about that.  About staff and service: 1. I got call from reception with a question 'when you will arrive?', 3 hours after we already arrived and payed in advance for one night. Maybe some IT disruption in their system? It happens 2. Also was strange that there was no hand soap in both  cottages, while it was dish washing liquid and tablets for dishwasher... Staff said that "landlady will bring it soon" but nobody brought it at all during our stay. 3. There also was bad odor in cottage 19th (probably plumber issues and might be that some previous visitors smoked inside). 4. Would be really kind of property to be more flexible and cooperate with Booking.com if unexpected event happens to the client: SAS flight to Kiruna was canceled. About flight cancellation and problems while reaching property both - Kappas and Booking.com were informed ASAP as we got information about cancellation and we asked to adjust reservation dates. Booking.com answered that they will do changes if property will agree and property answered that they are not able to do changes, because this is Booking.com must do that.. :( Because of inicident we reached Kiruna late afternoon when no transportation was available from Kiruna to Bjorkliden. So we reached property 1 day later and stayed 2 nights, but we were forced to pay for 3 nights.

Its a super cozy place.
What we loved was: the private sauna, quiet, breathtaking views. Plus this is a great place to enjoy the northern lights with no additional cost.
What we liked less was their checkout list: We get it that the cabins are more or less like airbnb and we need to clean up after ourselves. However they could say just that versus their do this do that check-list.

We were a group of 14 people across 3 cabins just at the end of season. The area is beautiful with views over the frozen lake. Absolutely spectacular scenery with an atmosphere of both fun and serenity.

The cabins are clean and cosy. My cabin had a sauna and was freshly redone with modern interiors. This was much nicer than the older ones with no sauna, particularly because there is a bigger change area to store snow and outdoor gear which minimizes pressure on the small accommodation space. My only complaint would be the blinds on the windows - they are not full block-out which makes sleeping hard in the brighter months. This is a simple, necessary improvement.

The ski school for the kids is great and they had a great instructor, Mans. We LOVED the dog sledding and the skiing. There is a good variety of slopes for family enjoyment. It was nice to be able to drive to Narvik in Norway to see the fjords. It was a beautiful drive.

It was great to be able to self-cater and not rely on the restaurant which I would not want to eat at for every meal - once in the week was enough. The dishwasher in our cabin was a necessity. The bar is beautiful and cosy and great for a drink at the end of the day.

I would certainly come back here all the way from South Africa for Spring skiing. I recommend hiring a car in the area so that grocery shopping is easy and easy access to the ski areas within the resort without having to carry gear and children up short hills in the snow.


The first thing that strikes you about Kappas Village is its idyllic location. Views of the river, snow-covered mountains, clear blue skies, this place has it all. And it is not far off from Abisko. The drive from Kiruna airport, the closest airport, is only 1.5 hours.

The apartments are clean, cozy, and has enough amenities in the kitchen, if you are interested in coming on a holiday. The apartment that we started in was spacious and easily accommodate a family of four. The beds were comfortable, and the heat systems worked very well. The main building houses the reception and the restaurant, at the top of the hill. The staff were courteous, helpful, and made every effort to be accommodating. Bear in mind the reception is open round the clock.

There are three things to keep in mind - 1) the walk from the parking lot to the apartment can become tedious when it is snowing or windy, 2) there is additional charge for linen, but this is clearly stated upfront during the booking process, and 3) the charges for not returning the apartment in pristine condition are very steep.

Since this is primarily a ski resort in winter, there are still slopes adjacent to the reception. There are opportunities for skiing, snowmobiling, snow hikes, and most of all, Northern lights viewing. There is a cabin about a kilometer up the hill from the reception, specifically for the viewing. We chose to skip the cabin and went to other spots with no light pollution for better viewing.

Out main purpose to go to Abisko was Aurora Borealis, and we were not disappointed. The activity was only about 3 on all the nights we were there, but we're able to see the green wave dance. No clouds, no wind, no snow or rain, no light pollution - we could not ask for a better setting. There were a couple of instances when it filled up the sky in an arch, and we were just mesmerised.

If I were to revisit Abisko, I would start at the Kappas Village again.

Saw Aurora Borealis from Carpark!

As a common European practice, when you are served soup, the standard would be complimented with a bread basket. But unfortunately this is not a practice in the hotel’s restaurant. This is so terrible of a service for a restaurant  Plus the food standard is only mediocre. I would definitely not recommend to dine here. The staff are so rude too!

Bring your own food & drinks before you check in as the cabins have fully equipped kitchen for you to cook. Save your money by not dining at their restaurant. You wouldn’t miss much.
