I've stayed at the Tropical Palace for 5 days on my first visit to Paramaribo in Suriname. The hotel is quiet, clean and well maintained, in the quiet Monplaisir district north of the historic center. Among the big pluses: Strong, consistent WiFi. Good air conditioning. An excellent breakfast (included), served on a breezy, delightful terrace. Their driver, Farouk, really knows Paramaribo. The hotel is a very good value for the money. Best of all, the manager, Maureen, made a valiant effort to help me resolve a lost luggage problem with InselAir, calling the airline office day and night to help me.
