Excellent food and very good environment to chill out. Prices are reasonable. No added flavors found in foods Specially Rumesh who served us was very friendly, helpful offered us a free salad dish also. Highly recommended.

Ordered some food from a very nice waiter. However when we were waiting for food two workers from the restaurant beat a dog with a metal bar in front of the guests and choked it with a leash. After this I complained to the workers saying please don't treat the dog like this. They laughed and then threw the dog into the water where it could not swim (pictures attached). Apart from our waiters the other workers are thugs. Please avoid this restaurant

my friends and i went to this bar because of their happy hour deal (buy 2 get 1 free) and the gorgeous view right by the beach. we ordered 3 cocktails and a banana juice without sugar. first we got a banana milkshake. the server told us is was only milk and banana no sugar. when tasted we realized there was in fact sugar added to the drink. when our cocktails came one of them (a gin fizz) didn’t even have alcohol in it. we immediately called the server over and told him that we had ordered banana juice not a milkshake and a gin fizz not tonic water. he proceeded to argue with us and tell us that our drink was in fact a gin fizz. then he tried it and realized we were in fact right. he picked it up to take it away and we asked him to take the milkshake as well because my friend is lactose intolerant and does not drink milk, and he then took the milkshake and poured it on the ground (including the straw) right in front of us. we sat waiting for our third cocktail for about 20 minutes before we called the server over and asked if we were going to get it. he said the bartender has left and wasn’t going to be back for an hour and a half (it’s only 6 pm). no one told us this information we had to specifically ask for it or else we would have been waiting indefinitely. we decided to just get the check and miss out on the free cocktail because of how terrible the service was. terrible way to start the night. i hate complaining at restaurants and i’m normally really tolerant of mistakes, but the staff here was so incredibly rude that i had to write this review. please avoid this place and go to one of the many similar bars right next to it.

horrible service

Nice spot on the beach, but we feel that was the only plus point.
We waited for over an hour for the food which was not that nice: no spices, not warm, pieces of meat and fish in kottu and fried rice were dry and chewy. The Chilli cafe had run out of chillli, it could not be provided as a condiment!!! 
Service poor as English speaking hosts were more focussed on attracting and entertaining young women into the establishment.
It was a disappointing evening as for the last 2 weeks of travel we have found Sri Lanka has amazing hospitality and this was the first time we experienced non-apologetic and uninterested staff.

Poor service, mediocre food

Following a good evening with my friends we ended up at chili cafe bar on the beach.
From there my friend had his phone stolen from our table. The bar staff then started demanding money for its return and then threatened us with violence if we didn’t give them money. This interaction was completely unnecessarily and really put a downer on the night.  
Avoid this place if you can.

Criminal

A group of us went here last night, and were having a great time until my phone was stolen. I was later approached by several men and a ‘translator’ saying they had taken it and would return it if I paid them money. It ended up being at the bar with staff, which we found out after we had been threatened multiple times and handed over the money. Was a terrible ending to what had been a great night up till that point.
