This is a great place to stay in hikkaduwa. Is located right next to the beach. Is run by super friendly family. The rooms are big and clean with private bathroom. They got sun beds and shower in beachfront so it’s perfect place to stay and relax

stayed there for 5 nights....very clean affordable and safe place...the owner and his family are very  friendly and helpful....their kids are so lovely!....breakfast is huge and delicious...and the best thing is...you are directly on the beach...we would come again!

We stayed here with our family for a week in January. It’s been a wonderful place to be. The beach is not crowded, compared to other places near by, witch we really appreciated. The hotel is small, so it kind of felt like we had the place for our own. It is really relaxing and calming to stay here. 

The family who runs this place, is so nice, welcoming and does everything for giving you a wonderful stay. 
Thank you for taking such good care of us! If we ever go to Sri Lanka, Hikkaduwa again, this is where we wish to stay.

Perfect location on the beach with a lovely family. The owner is always smiling and very helpful. We had good chats in the evening und you can ask him everything about Sri Lanka. You can choose between nice little rooms directly left to the beach, or rooms in the first floor of the house. Very cheap, clean and a good place to stay in. Thx for everything

Stayed here for 4 weeks and loved it. The location at the quieter end of the beach is so peaceful but a ten minute walk will take you to the busier end with bars and restaurants.Train station nearby for trips to Galle etc. 
The room spacious, the bed large and very comfortable and the bathroom has an electric shower that works every time! Our room had no ac but a good ceiling fan and the breeze from the sea was lovely.
Talin and his family are so friendly and helpful, I even learned a little Sri Lankan language. 
For a peaceful base this is the place to stay.

Tamaro Beach Resort is the perfect spot to stay if you're visiting Hikkaduwa. Talin and his family are incredible hosts, the accommodation is great value for money, the beds are super comfy, air conditioner is a lifesaver after a hot day on the beach and the breakfasts are second to none. We were even lucky enough to watch a sea turtle lay eggs at the front of the hotel with no one in sight!!!

Thank you Talin, we will visit again and if you're travelling from the airport make sure you message Talin, he is much cheaper than the Taxi's on offer and drives a brand new hybrid.

At our three week trip to Sri Lanka, Tamaro was the best place we stayed. Room was very clean, AC worked and the breakfast was good (bread, eggs, fresh fruits, tea). Owners were very friendly and helpfull. 
The beach is quiet and you can just relax and enjoy life under palm trees :-).

We stayed hear for 2 nights towards the end of a 3 week stay in Sri Lanka and were delighted with this beach side accommodation. Having read the previous review we find it hard to believe - the couple who run the guest house were kind and very accommodating, they were both of a gentle disposition. 
We had a room at the front without a sea view but with A/C - the room and bathroom were spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable. We could hear the road and the sea neither of which disturbed us. The sound of waves was a delight to hear. 
We didn't need a sea view as there was ample seating on the beach and under cover as part of their guest house. There was plenty of shaded areas, with loungers and parasols for guests use. The sea was a little rough at times but definitely my favourite swims of our trip. I went in at least 10 times in the few days we stayed there and felt safe. 
The accommodation is approx 3km from the Hikkadura - however we much preferred this quiet part of the beach. We walked along the shore line and back a couple of times and although this was nice to do - the main part of the tourist area was very busy. 
We had a good breakfast both mornings - on the last morning they were happy to provide this earlier normal due to our departure time. We had lunch on two occasions which was well prepared. 
We would definitely recommend this as a place to relax and enjoy the beautiful beach and sea.

We loved tamaro!

The bare truth and nothing less. There is no wifi, you could go sit the the family living room and get dial-up speed. This is a family of six and the entrance is their living room. In the front, the entrance is ten meters from a very busy road, in the back is a beautiful beach practically empty but you cannot swim without risk of breaking your neck. (very rough surf. The ac works fine and the shower is very good. They have a tuk tuk for transporting you and scooters for rent. The breakfast is ok, eggs, bread, butter and jam. The rest of the menu is way over priced and not very good. The nearest restaurant is about a kilometer and I did not try it. Just budget for transport to meals. The sheets and towels have a strange odor and not a clean one. You will pay a 10% service for everything even though they have no employees. At the end when I went to pay my bill, Talin told me that he only accepts dollars, not Euros or Rupees. As I only have local currency, I informed him that he would have to accept Rupees and he offered to sell me dollars for 240 Rupees per dollar to pay the hotel tab. Obviously that is a shake down. Ultimately I paid at the official rate and all ended peacefully. I cannot recommend this place.

Deceived by untrue reviews.

Fooled by positive reviews on Tripadvisor and Booking, we booked worst and most expensive night in whole trip. Room was smelly, stuffy, dark, cluttered, and noisy. Balcony was a joke. Food was overpriced and drowned in ...ketchup. ! You arrive there just to be milked out of cash, and cash is only thing that they care for. Place is poor even for Sri Lanka standards. There are better and cheeper places around. Room was 60$ per night.
