Anilana Craigbank

Stayed 2 nights as a couple in January 2020. Craigbank is a colonial bungalow, refurbished about 10-12 years ago retaining historical authenticity but with modern plumbing, comfortable beds, spotlessly clean rooms and a superb level of service. The house is surrounded by a large, well tended garden, including a vegetable patch, rose bed and good views over the local area. Flat screen TVs in all rooms. Located about 10 - 15 minute walk outside the centre of Nuwara Eliya with space for parking. The young team that manage Craigbank are friendly, hardworking and want guests to get the most out of their stay.Nothing seems too much trouble. They helped us organise a taxi from Nanu Oya station and a driver for local excursions. The chef produces restaurant quality food with locally sourced ingredients. The meal options [order in advance] comprise Sri Lankan as well as International cuisine.The food is plentiful and delicious. No alcolhol is served at the guesthouse but guests can bring in their own, with no corkage charges. We were the only guests in the 4 roomed guesthouse for one of our nights and were encouraged to treat it as a 'home from home'. A fire was lit in the sitting room every evening and fresh flowers in all the rooms made it easy to feel relaxed, even when other guests arrived. Such a guesthouse may not be to everyone's liking but if you want a flavour of the past with the conveniences of today with faultless service then Craigbank and the guys, who manage it, will not disappoint. Would highly recommend.
