The Kandyan View Rest is run by Ajit who is ably assisted by Mala. The hotel is situated just above the better known Hotel Thilanka and is a much cheaper alternative with the same spectacular views over the lake. Rooms are spotlessly clean and management obviously take a great pride in making guests as comfortable as possible. There is a roof top terrace. Ajit also arranged for us to eat at the hotel (the cost was 750 rupees per person) and the fare that he and Mala provided was of the highest order. Whilst there, go to the Sri Lanka floor show (1000 rupees) which takes place less than half a mile away from the hotel. We rented rickshaws for the day to take us to see the Big Buddha, Spice Farms and Elephant Centre. Ajit will provide all the necessary assistance and I have no hesitation in recommending Kandyan Rest View as a great place to stay in Kandy.
