Good location of the house, beautiful living room, big and clean bedroom. Be careful of the tuk tuk drivers there though (they have nothing to do with this house, they were just arond there)!!  They were trying to scam us left and right. One of them even came to the house drunk and annoyed us to death. But the landlord was great and very helpful and we took care of the situation together

Really nice homestay in a beautiful kandian villa. Rooms very well furnished with a good clean bathroom attached. The family has a made who will bring you drinks and be at your service, too. The owners are a super friendly australian-sri lankese couple with a son and a cute dog "bella". Rate is 4000/night + breakfast 500 pp. Only deficiency is that there is no wifi.

We cam heartly recommend this place and would stay there any time again! 

If you like dogs: The owners allowed us to take the aformentioned Bella for a walk around the lake. Was a really nice experience! 


I loved staying at Lakelands 'Guest House Around the Lake' when I was in Kandy recently. My husband and I had a big beautiful room with a large (kingsize?) bed and ensuite for a very reasonable rate. The shared living area just outside it is decorated in formal style and there is a beautiful indoor/outdoor pond with koi carp, rocks and ferns. Very peaceful and cool. Just a dozen or so steps down the street from Lakelands the traffic roars past and you're back into the fray, but inside is an oasis. The location is brilliant as we could walk from there around Kandy lake to the Temple of the Tooth (Buddha's) and to the many shops and restaurants in the vicinity. If you like dosai, you must find Birinji Dosai which serves the best I've ever had. The Royal Bar & Hotel is good for any meals, and Cafe Natural Coffee on the far (from the lake) side of the temple is excellent for a morning espresso. Regarding Lakelands, apart from all the other good things about it, it's very best feature are the people who run it, very warm, welcoming and charming. I will definitely stay there if I ever return to Kandy.

Solo traveler, stayed here for 3 nights upon arriving in Sri Lanka. 
Very convenient location right on the lake. You won't have the fabulous views here that you would have from up in the hills, but you will have convenience and a beautiful house with an indoor garden. Walk out your door and walk around the lake to the Temple of the Tooth and Kandy town. Room was very large and clean. Bed was quite hard though. Quite hard. No A/C/ but ceiling fan was powerful and more than adequate. Private bathroom was fine, if rather worn, although it wasn't quite as clean as the room and could have stood to have been wiped down and dusted before arrival. The Garden Cafe is a short walk away and is a great place for cheap, delicious, filling eats and has some great.  juices as well. Best thing is the hostess/owner, who communicated very well, responded promptly to emil inquiries, helped with directions, made sure I had dinner plans,  supplied me with pot after pot of tea when I got sick, and even waited for me on the morning of my departure and gave me a ride to the station. All in all a comfortable stay. But a hard bed.

We stayed 2 nights at Lakalands and we really enjoyed our stay. The room (with fan and en-suite) was clean and spacious. The shower had hot water and good water pressure (which is not always the case with most of the home stay accommodation in Sri Lanka). 

It is located at the Kandy Lake and walking distance to Dalada Maligawa (Temple of the Buddha’s tooth). The house is beautifully renovated by the owner/host. The host (Srilankan couple) as well as the housemaid Lila were very friendly and helpful. 

We also had the opportunity to meet and greet “Bella” the super cute dog. She is such a friendly dog and we loved her.

Free Wi-Fi was available but the signal reception in our room or ground floor (common living area) was very poor. 

There is a great café (Garden café - you can have yummy fresh fruit drinks, breakfast, lunch and dinner at a very reasonable price) walking distance from Lakelands. You can choose to have breakfast at an additional cost (at USD5) at Lakalands but Garden café offers a variety of local and western food for breakfast (and lunch/Dinner).
