Ubuntu Beach Villas by Reveal

We stayed in a sea view room at Ubuntu Beach Villas in Mirissa for 5 nights. This is a wonderful hotel with an excellent location situated right on the beach next to the number 1 voted beach bar, Zephyr. On our first night we visited the Seafood Market at the much larger sister hotel, The Lantern Boutique Hotel. We chose our fresh fish and it was cooked to order. The meal was fairly expensive in comparison but to be fair we did pick the mud crab and giant lagoon prawns (the most expensive items in accordance to their weight.) The quality of the meal was superb and well worth the cost, taxes and service charge (which bumped the price up considerably.) Also to our amazement (as we ate under the stars) a large female turtle walked up the beach near to where we were sat and begun digging a nest in the sand to lay her eggs. What a real treat to see with your own eyes. A once in a lifetime experience to see up close and in its natural environment. Needless to say we didn’t visit any turtle sanctuaries. At our hotel we opted for bed and breakfast as there are so many great options to eat near Mirissa beach and of course next door at Zephyr (where the food is also very good.) The breakfast was fantastic, served with fresh fruit and cakes/toast etc. Then you can chose your main breakfast from the a la carte menu. We opted for the eggs (cooked as you like) with bacon and sausage. Chefs were super accommodating and it was the best breakfast which set us up for the day. Our server for the 5 days was Malith Pushpa kumara who was attentive and took great care of us during our stay. Room service was equally amazing. Our rooms were made up daily and we received a call each evening to see if we needed anything extra for our room. I cannot recommend this hotel enough. Next time we would book at the Lantern as their sea view rooms have large balconies and at Ubuntu you have a Juliet balcony with sliding doors. The sea is rough so you need to be super careful when taking a dip. The staff had kittens (so to speak when our 12 year old ventured in.) Mirissa beach is a 3 minute drive in a Tuk tuk so no issues with accessing a calmer beach. I hope you enjoy the photos I have shared.
