This is a beautiful colonial building maintained in amazing conditions. Apartments are huge, fresh and really comfortable. My senior parents loved the style of the house and the green areas around it. Location was just perfect to us, really close to the main services and one minute walk from the beach which has nice little bars and restaurants open till late. Jacob was just fantastic, really well organised and helpful with many informations, all the staff was incredible and really welcoming. We simply felt like at home.

This beautiful apartment that we ended up in after our online booking was a very nice surprise out of many perspectives, but not least seen to the big/huge space and warm ambiance. Margosa is located almost right on the beach in Mount Lavinia and even though its far from the best in the country (the beach I mean) it's very nice to be part of a capital. Important to know is that the railway, with heavy traffic, runs right next to the building and trains pass by late evenings as well as early mornings. I got fairly used to it, but if you are sensitive to loud noise this is important to know before booking (and this probably regards a majority of the hotels and hostels along the coastline between Colombo and Matara..?). You also need to cross right over the railway to get down to the beach. The apartment is cleaned every third day, so do not expect hotel service but rather see it as renting a nice private space. There is supposed to be free wifi, but unfortunately there were big problems with this during our whole stay there.

Stayed in the single bed apartment on the first floor, which is the size of a regular house with so much space and tasteful interior and furniture. Its very quite, private and great value for money. 
The service is excellent, although the balcony furniture needed some dusting and cleaning. 
Highly recommend Margosa for individual or family travelers. Would definitely come back again.
