The resort is situated next to a lake and has 2 wonderful, clean pools. The rooms are in bungalows situated in a parc. Room was very clean with a spacious bathroom, Lasantha (and Menaka and Amila) did a great job and in addition, every day, there was a new towel sculpture on the bed. My friend had difficulties walking and the bungalow was very far away from the the lobby/restaurant. This was absolutely no problem, Ranjith with the golf car was always there within 2 minutes after calling  so she could have a ride from/to the lobby/restaurant. This was probably the most beautiful resort of our Sri Lanka tour.

A stay of only a few days, but really enjoyable! We stayed little at the hotel as we were busy with the tour (by the way, it is an ideal starting point for the main archaeological attractions), but such interludes proved invigorating: enchanting scenery, very well-maintained grounds, bungalows more than adequate in cleanliness, decor and comfort, a varied and very very interesting buffet, impeccable and masterful service in terms of efficiency (finding two sun loungers and its umbrella was never a problem, despite it being very attended) and discretion both in the dining room (special thanks to the waiter who bothered to go back to the kitchen to find a certain tuna fish for my husband, despite it being on the brink of being refitted) and in the pool, which is spotlessly clean. We would gladly return!

Their service is excellent.They always take extra effort to satisfy the customers. The staff are very personable and helpful. It is a real relaxing hotel. You don’t feel it as a hotel. You feel the beauty of the environment. Wonderful arrangement.

First of all, the view is amazing. The sunset view on the lake is just breathtaking. The staff was very cautious about any need we had. The rooms were very clean, beautiful and comfortable. Furthermore, the food was great with plenty of choice. Last but not least the nearby activities such as visit of temples, sigiriya,... was great entertainment.

We loved the hotel which is blended with nature. Staff was friendly and helpful. Check in was smooth. Infinity pool has a breathtaking view. Even though they had 3 pools we loved this one the most. They have recycling plant which recycle almost all the garbage comes out from the hotel rooms. Fascinating.

This is one of the best hotel we visited. The Royal Suite was wonderful and ideal for 2 families. The service was excellent and really professional. Food and drinks are perfect and delicious. Lots of activities to do in the hotel. Overall one of the best hotels in Sri lanka

From  the moment we stepped in to the hotel the service was excellent. The location where the hotel situated is absolutely stunning . The misty mountains , full of greenery and the kandalama lake gives what exactly the holiday needs. Sigiriya and pidurangala can be seen with a distance. Food was delicious and superb. Quality and quantity is up to the standard. All three buffets were excellent with a wide range of tasty foods.  I personally like to visit this place again as it ls such  nice place to relax your mind and body. Another special thing i want to add is with this pandemic situation the hotel staff was taking an extra efforts to maintain the health and safety procedures. The standards were well maintained 

One of the best hotels we have ever stayed in,built into the surrounding rocks, overlooking a stunning lake,surrounded by wildlife, we even had monkeys in the infinity pool, the rooms were perfect with the balcony in the trees, the staff were so attentive and helpful, they had even found out I was gluten free and when we arrived in the restaurant they took us up to the buffet and showed us the gluten free dishes, we all loved it so much we have rebooked for jan 2021

It was realy and amazing weekend...very one enjoyed the stay at kandalama...food was great..as always..it's truely five star experience...staff is very helpful and there were three pools with a stunning view..worth for money..I recommend this place for my friends very much ..thks for giving us good time....

Wonderful Resort to expore the cultural triangle

VVV nice!

You don't come here for the service or the food, but for an exceptional experience. A hotel hugged by jungle and rock. Views from the upper rooms are spectacular over a large water reservoir and jungle - stunning. The food is nothing to write home about. The restaurant is poor. Geoffrey Bawa would not be happy, that's for sure. But again - this place is to be experienced for its location and terrific architecture

Great if you like architecture and exceptional locations - not great if you come for a culinary experience

Amazing Kandalama

Stayed here for 3 nights as part of an Island tour
A fabulous setting in the jungle, with amazing views across the lake and mountains.
The approach road is a bit slow and bumpy, and it’s about a mile long!
The hotel is a long way from Dambulla town, so it’s not really practical to go out of the hotel in the evenings to other restaurants unless you have transport. Having said that, the restaurant, snack and room service menus are excellent and very reasonably priced. Service was friendly and efficient throughout
Wi-Fi was good through the hotel and pools. 
The sunbeds and mattresses need upgrading and there are not really enough beds given the hotel capacity. They could do with some sun umbrellas
Breakfast is superb with loads of choice. It’s a shame it’s not self serve due to Covid I guess, but strange that the sister hotel in Negombo was self serve?
The rooms are well equipped and a basket of fruit and snacks were delivered free of charge on 2 of the 3 nights
There are loads of monkeys in the area that are always around the balcony. Very entertaining, but keep the door closed
Housekeeping was disappointing, but probably down to one individual. Our room was left unlocked and the door wide open after servicing on one occasion, and we had to ask for new loo rolls as spares were not left in the bathroom
Overall, I’d stay here again as the location was superb

Breathtaking 

The hotel is nice located with a beautiful view to the lake. If possible, choose a room on the upper floors. The rooms are nice and spacy, but you see that the hotel is some years old. If the hotel is full, it is very noisy at the breakfast and in the buffet restaurant for dinner. We tried the served restaurant which was very tasty. There is nothing around the hotel apart from nature.
