Wonderful place. Kumur is a excellent host and nothing is a issue.  We had trouble finding it and he drove to where we were and led us in.  He also gave us a wonderful barbecue on the beach - food was exceptional.  You can spend a lot here with all the extras,  eg jet ski but when you are sitting in a room in the ocean with a jet ski at your door what are you supposed to do!  I had a health issue and Kumur took me to the local hospital and i was in a out within 20 mins.  He is a well know and highly respected man and he would do anything for you  to make your stay a wonderful one.  Thanks Kumur,  from Tania and Gordon

What a great place!

We went to this place to have lunch and enjoy the moment on Christmas day with family and relatives. We experienced the worse.. Lady manager was so cunning.. just a simple rice and fish curry Rs.1500 also add the service charge to it.. terrible place.. spoiled our Christmas program.. Didn't have a Credit card payment option as well.. Please do not go here.. All cheaters starting from the lady manager..

Hopeless .. please do not go to this place.. 

My husband found pictures of this place on the internet and was so excited because it looked so rustic and lovely. We had some trouble contacting Eagle Eye Resorts and eventually got through to a woman who gave us the mobile number of the manager, Kumar. I telephoned him and he seemed pretty friendly and personable. He offered us a discount on the price and encouraged us to try their "superb" seafood bbq on the beach. We were thrilled. 

A few days after making our reservation I was in contact with Kumar again about our credit card details. I asked him the perfectly reasonable question of what percentage deposit we would need to make and his response was odd. He went over the top in saying they didn't take deposits and how we were all human and money was not the be all and end all. It was all very odd and made me feel very uneasy. 

When we got there later in the evening than we had planned, we were met by four men and Kumar.  We were told that the place was deserted and we were the only guests. This was surprisingly unnerving with small children. We were miles away from any inhabited areas. We later found out that the area had been devastated by the tsunami of 2004 and the locals had apparently all moved away. We were surprised by how shabby the rooms were. There were loose bricks laid in the shower room, presumably to allow the water to drain straight into the ground and nearby lagoon, there was a massive cockroach under the fridge and we were "surprised" with a table set in the lagoon itself from which to eat dinner.  It was a horrible experience. Country music was played in the background as we sat balanced precariously on cement blocks, with our feet slowly turning more and more prune-like in the water. The food was awful (fish soup followed by fried rice, cabbage fried with olives and fried prawns) and my daughter asked repeatedly why we were being watched by the servers who stood close behind us. It was excruciating and we didn't have the heart to say it was not to our taste, so we endured as long as we could (not long - my feet felt awful) before insisting we were exhausted and had to retire for the night. 

In the morning, after a very restless, uneasy night, we hurriedly arranged an extra night at our next hotel and phoned Batticoloa for a taxi. We paid for two nights and left on the pretext that our daughter, who had an upset tummy, wasn't well enough to stay in such a rustic place. The lady at the cab company we booked asked how we'd found Lord of the Forest. Her question was pointed and she said that she had heard negative reports about the place from several people and was curious about our experience.	We were not going to write a review, but we decided we needed to as it was unfair to others thinking about staying there. It might be to the taste of some and I am certain there are people who found the manager/owner very personable, but we found the place strange and discomfiting.
