For the amount we paid for this hotel we were very pleasantly surprised! The staff were spectacularly helpful in every way and spoke good English. They offered laundry services, free breakfast (omelette, toast and fruit) and arranged tuk tuks and tours for us. 
Our room was large with a balcony and was cleaned during our 3 night stay. 
The only downside would be the weak water pressure in the shower, it's location (slightly out of town ~200/300 Rs tuk tuk ride) and the temperature of the room (too hot). Also, there was no mosquito net but luckily we brought our own. 
Overall a great place to stay, especially regarding the price. We would definitely stay here again if we returned to the city. 

Savonrich has very modern, well appointed clean rooms. The facilities are good and the staff very pleasant. The only drawback is that it is located on the outskirts of town but this does mean that we had a quite and peaceful stay. It is of very high standard for the price range and I would definitely return. 

We choose this hotel because it had a very big pretty yard, cheapest on booking.com, and free breakfast. The staff is extremely friendly and have the nicest smiles. The lunch and dinner you can have at the cafe in the entrance. It is very tasty and cheap. The free breakfast is huge. We stayed two nights and had roti, string hopers, butter/jam/bread, sandwiches, egg hopers, curry for string hopers. The hotel have a huge parking. We stayed in the cheapest room, it was no A/C, no hot water, but for this price one doesn't expect that. The room was clean. Only two things we didn't like: 1) the show drain had some hair not cleaned, and the bed cover was pretty old (some holes, not sure if it can be cleaned completely). We saw a room for 3500 Rs, and it looked fantastic.

I don't know why do you call a "Hotel" this place. A hotel means a lot for me.
When I call this owner, he just told me the rate of a room. didn't mention anything else. Then I sent a watsup msg to confirm my reservation. Then he sent a msg asking to do an advance. since it was just before my travel date I cudn't do it but I informed the same saying we are on the way pleased to reserve a room. No response but he had seen the msgs. 
However, when we enter the place there were no proper parking, and when I go there he was just surprised and said no reservation for me bcz I havent done any advance payment. I just excited and told since you seen the msg and no reply I thought its ok to proceed. And I said, we are the customer and do I have to follow or You follow? Even big hotels are following us very well and giving us a good welcome. He said they don't do so. My god.....
I just asked whether rooms available since we were late to Maha saaya. He said yes, and showed me a room, very small and looks untidy. and bathroom was very bad. Then he changed the room. I asked to wash that bathroom too. When we enter the place he saw that we carrying a electric kettle. Then he told miss we charge extra for electric items...I said just OK, again since we were late. So final bill was included extra charge plus service charge. But until we checked out no service received to the room. Even room telephone didn't work :) 

Two ladies behaved were like we went that place for free.... :) No smile at their faces. A/c didn't work well...One lady was forced to come and check it. Oh god.
No generator for customers when current is not there. But it calls a hotel :D 

There were no proper made up the room. No blankets for us. Very small room and a bathroom. bathroom taps were broken. Hot water machine didnt work. 

Breakfast was included since we booked as BB. but no bed tea served. 
When we asked what will be given for brekfast owner said it is traditional sri lankan. 
There were poor menu, very sad to say this. Why these people are doing this kind of bad customer service?

And please do not rate high for this hotel, I dont like to call it a hotel. Its an insult to a hotel :)

They just wanted the money.

Very bad customer service

I booked this resort online for a family outing, but it turned out to be a huge mistake. The rooms were not as depicted in the pictures – unpleasant odor, stained and dripped walls. Some electrical outlets were covered with dust and insect debris. The kitchen area was in an even worse state, with the floor being in an unacceptable condition. It was clear that the place hadn’t been cleaned properly. 
Bathrooms were lacking sufficient space. Bidet shower was old and poorly installed. Hot water barely worked.
We had ordered dinner, but were told we needed to arrive by 9 PM to receive it. When that timing wasn’t possible, we requested to cancel the order. One of the staff assured us that the meal would be prepared and ready when we arrived after 9PM. However, upon our arrival, we were informed that no dinner had been prepared, as they had assumed we canceled the order.
To make matters worse, when we complained the matter to the owner, his attitude was shockingly rude and unhelpful. Instead of apologizing or offering a solution, they were dismissive and seemed annoyed by our concerns. He is totally unprofessional & arrogant. This completely ruined our trip. I would never recommend this place to anyone. It’s not worth the money or the frustration.

Horrible Experience – Unclean Rooms and Rude Owner

Nothing in this hotel. I have booked this hotel for one night on 5th September for visit Anuradhapura with my family. At the arrival time very bad welcome. First of all asked the payments and they charged 10% services charges also but manager sent me all included price after that refunded 🙏🙏
we picked our baggage also upstairs (with my kids 3 , 10 and 11 years ) 
Bathroom also very very very dirty and small. ( we can’t see any single pictures of bathroom on Booking.com)
And two ladies there they also very rude. 
Mini bar also with spoil fruits in side can’t use. I informed about mini bar that old lady said it not for use 🥲🥲 
Anyway nice breakfast 🙏🙏🙏

I am currently half way through a stay here and feel so angry that I have to write a review of this place before I leave so that no one else makes the mistake of booking. I am a 26 year old female who has been travelling on a budget for 4 months and I have never been treated so rudely by a member of male staff as I was at breakfast today. There is a menu which displays various breakfast options but none are available except a western breakfast (so don't expect to be enjoying any Sri Lankan hoppers). The western breakfast clearly states that toast/butter/jam/omelette/sausages are included with tea/coffee or fresh juice and fruit. When our omelette arrived without sausages we politely asked if sausages were coming. We were told that no they weren't. The first excuse was that my reading skills were poor and that the menu meant omelette or sausages (even though I am English and a veterinary surgeon I am clearly not educated enough to read the English Language according to the waiter). After I pointed out that I understood the menu he tried to tell me it was my fault because he asked what we wanted for breakfast yesterday. This was simply a lie, no discussion was had about breakfast, he then childishly kept trying to get the last word and laughed in our faces. All I asked was that we either got what we paid for or they reduced the price of the breakfast by a fraction. This probably all  sounds very petty but the aggression and rudeness shown by this member of staff was enough to make me shake. I would not recommend staying here if you are not good at confrontation. Please don't give these people your money, I know the reviews are generally good but I genuinely feel that the staff could be threatening if I were a solo traveller. 
(Also the room smells terribly of moth balls- we found 20 in our room)!

PLEASE DON'T STAY HERE- WORST STAFF IN ASIA

The staff at this hotel are the rudest people we've met in Sri Lanka, I would avoid this place like the plague. I can't believe the positive reviews on Trip Advisor are genuine, it certainly wasn't our experience.

For breakfast we tried to order String Hoppers (traditional Sri Lankan dish) from the menu only to be told that they would only provide Western breakfasts. Why put other options on the menu then?

Not all the listed items came with the breakfast. Asking why, they first claimed some were options despite it very clearly stating on the menu that all were included.

They only provide thick condensed milk for tea, so that was undrinkable.

When we complained about the above, we were told it was all our fault. Apparently we should have ordered breakfast the night before, then they could have sourced all the ingredients and wouldn't have needed to lie to us about some items being options.

I pointed out that I've never had to order breakfast the night before in any other hotel ever. The waiter then claimed he asked us if we wanted breakfast when we checked in. This was an outrageous lie. When we denied every having this conversation, he called us the liars. 

We asked for a very modest 50rs discount on the breakfast for the missing items but he refused sticking to his new position of 'its all your fault' refusing to acknowledge any wrongdoing.

Another tip if you do still decide to stay and eat here: eat quickly or cover every inch of your skin. There are literally clouds of mosquitoes in the restaurant.

The room was big and clean but stuffed with mothballs. Now all my clothes smell like mothballs. Great.

Rude, lying staff, abysmal breakfast

This hotel is a hotel with few amenities and there were no necessary materials to even take a hot shower, There are also mosquitoes The entrance to the hotel is covered with moss, the stairs are high so it is difficult to go to the upper floor, please don't go there ..experienced ...
