Playa Real Resort

We travelled here as a family of 4 for 11 nights. Me, my wife and 2 kids (6 & 3) and we were situated in the 2nd floor of the Annex building. The room was adequate with a balcony overlooking the splash park area. The balcony was nice and spacious and there was plenty of room for us all. The shower was basic and low pressure if you wanted to get a shower during a peak time but that's a minor thing. There was a ramp up to the room which was good with young kids but the lift at the side we were staying was out of order for the entire duration of the holiday. This proved to be annoying when we first arrived as we didn't know the layout i.e. we were not aware of the ramp of alternative lift. This resulted in me carrying heavy suitcases and a sleeping child up the stairs at 11pm after a long day of travelling which wasn't ideal! We did have issues with the room key stopping working randomly which had to be resolved by reception and I did have to make a complaint as we didn't get food upon arrival as we arrived aft 10pm due to a delayed flight, the lift not working, no help offered to get to the room and no tip off about the lift situation. As an apology we were given the late checkout free of charge on the last day which was very much appreciated. Now onto the rest of the facilities... The food was adequate but not particularly exciting, very similar every day and the dining rooms gets very busy / full at peak times which can be annoying. The mini disco / entertainment area also gets busy with all the tables and chairs grabbed early on. The pools in the hotel are fantastic. The kids loved them, we used the main pools as the kids preferred these to the splash park as the water was warmer. The foam parties are a great laugh (every wednesday / saturday) The snack bar was good, hot dogs, burgers, chips, ice cream (available 8/11 days we were there). Drink options were good with the ability to serve yourself soft / hot drinks all the time and beer most of the time (except evenings). Cocktails etc were served at the bar by staff and it does get busy at the bar on an evening. Location was good, short walk down to Fanabe beach which is a lovely beach but it is a steep hill walking back up. The kids absolutely loved the mini disco and the animation team did a brilliant job. This was the highlight of the hotel for us. These guys are exceptional. All day they entertain the guests with a range of activities for adults and kids. The energy that they put into it is amazing. Especially Alex who really does go above and beyond. We had a great family holiday here and would likely return in the future!
