We planned to stay for one night and were able to check in after the designated time (it was midnight when we arrived). The guy was really helpful, showed us where the lift was for our cases, offered us cold water, showed us how the air con worked and gave us the wifi password. (The air con did work, contrary to some of the earlier reviews so they must have fixed it). Room is basic and the bed isn't that comfortable but it was clean enough and if you're looking to see barcelona in a few days and not spend a lot of time in your hotel room this is an ideal well-priced option in a central location.
