Doran Doran Guesthouse

We had a wonderful stay in Gyeongju and at Doran Doran Guesthouse. The guesthouse is near the main touristic attractions of the town and therefore is in the best area for a holiday in Gyeongju. The place is really nice, the rooms are small but have all that's necessary for a pleasant stay, and they are also very clean. The breakfast is perfect, lots of fruits and some toast. The owners have been really nice, welcoming and helpful. I would definitely recommend the Doran Doran Guesthouse!!!

Everything we needed in a perfect location. It was so clean, the staff was very kind, we’ve had the room ready sooner than expected, free breakfast and many restaurants and a store near. All the monuments and parks to visit are next to this place.

Beautiful homely guest house with amazing hosts who will look after you. Great breakfast provided, and my room was cozy, clean and comfortable. Location is amazing, right across from the main tourist attractions, as well as convenience stores and restaurants. I love their cats! I would definitely stay again.

Doran Doran was well located. It was just a stone’s throw from the Cheomseongdae. The Daereungwon Toyal Tomb, Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond and Gyeungju National Museum were within walking distance. Even the alleys surrounding it were worth exploring. Doran Doran’s guest room was comfortable and cozy, especially the under floor heating system. The room was thoroughly cleaned, even the bed frame was clean. The owner provided healthy and hearty breakfast with lot of fruits. The double bed was a bit small for both of us. The bathroom was a bit cramped. But they were in good condition. We had good sleep and the bathroom was certainly usable. The main living hall was small when big group of people having breakfast together, but a good moment to mingle with other travelers since everybody sat close to each other.

We love the stay at this classic styled guesthouse in Gyeongju. The owners really take care of us in many ways. The guesthouse is perfectly located within a two minute walk to Cheomseongdae, the oldest astronomical observatory in South Korea. You can also walk a short distance to the Tumuli Park (Tomb's Park) as well as the Donggung Palace and Wolji (Anapji) Pond. We greatly enjoyed the two nights stay here! 

Nice Hanbok experience, thanks to the friendly staff who even sent our forgotten earrings by post to a next hotel. Location is walking distance from the sights located near the center, while others are accessible via nearby bus-stop. We took a Korean room/bed and that might have been a step to far for us, classic bed may be safer (and softer)!

If you are looking for a unique and cozy guest house and want to experience the true beauty of Gyeongju, I strongly recommend this place. The owner was very kind, joyful, and thoughtful. It is a traditional local style house with a lovely garden.

Dorandoran Guesthouse is such a beautiful place with a lovely garden. If you're a cat lover, the owners have 3 generations of kitties. The rooms are comfortable and the location is within walking distance to the park and restaurants. The breakfast are healthy with freshly fruits and vegetables, eggs to order with ham/cheese sandwiches, juices and coffee. Breakfast is also communal and lively, which made staying more enjoying and memorable.

The owners are humble, extremely patient and really helpful. We were escorted to a really great pork belly BBQ with reasonable price (near 7-Eleven & bus top to Bulguksa/Seokguram). If you're planning to see the Bulguksa Temples and Seokguram Grotto, the bus stop is very close by. Bring Won because they only accept cash, however, there are ATMs in the area. The owners can speak English and the guesthouse is popular to English-speaking travelers. The owners called the taxi for us, and they walked with us to the taxi and made our goodbyes.

If you love staying in small and intimate guesthouse/hotels and wouldn't mind mingling with your hosts, this is the place to be in.

Positives:
- it's a building in a traditional local style with a lovely garden where you can drink beer after the whole day full of sightseeing. 
- hosts do care about you and you may see they want you to feel comfortable
- rooms are basic but exactly as you would expect them to be in such an environment. Everything is spotlessly clean. And it's definitely not expensive (but beware, it's cash only).

Negatives:
- unfortunately, breakfast has nothing to do with anything traditional. When I was in Japan in a traditional accommodation, breakfast was also in Japanese style, but here it was just toasts, ham, eggs etc., it wasn't bad per se but if they served sth. Korean, it'd create a much better impression.
