Gyeongju Hillmare Pension

Stayed here with my family in April 2015. I don't know why the name is listed on TripAdvisor as Happy Plus Pension -- the photo is unmistakably the Hillmare Pension, and when you click the link on the Agoda site, you are taken to the Hillmare Pension site. We booked on Booking.com, quite simply. Great prices (under $100 for a large unit that slept our family of four and could have fit more). The place was totally clean and the owners were unbelievably kind and helpful. Quiet and clean, and a good location -- about 10 minute drive (cheap taxi; the owners called for us) to Bulguksa Temple and, in the other direction, about 5 minutes from the Bomun Lake resort area. There are several solid korean restaurants within a 5 minute walk of the place, too, and it's about an 8 minute walk (toward Bomun Lake) to a folk village for great souvenirs, pottery, metalsmith goods, etc. For reference, it is located directly behind the Polaris Pension. I think the only reason this place doesn't have other reviews is because the owners have not really advertised on English-speaking websites. Their English language communication is limited, but they are so kind, they will work hard to help with the basics, such as calling taxis, etc. Free wifi available in the little rec room on site; we stayed in a unit adjacent to it, so we had access, but the signal wasn't that strong and I doubt it would extend to all of the rooms.
