 Great location. The view is just breathtaking. Unfortunately we were there outside whale watching season. Which we enjoyed a few years back. 
Always a pleasure to return.
Shalene and Gerhard are great hosts who will assist you with whatever you need. 


Amazing hosts, amazing location, amazing breakfast, amazing terrace, amazing dinner recommendations, ... as you can tell  amazing overall :) I visited with my (very well traveled) 86 year old grandpa and he said it was the nicest breakfast view he ever had. Both of us enjoyed everything about our stay and we will definitely come back!

We visited Marebella Guest house in the middle of February 2023, It was wonderful, the house is so esthetic and artistic so just walking inside make you feel so inspired but also at home and relaxed. You look into a very nicely decorated house with a stunning view over the beautiful coast line. The house is a perfect place for sitting down and watch the sea. I visited the place in 2005 and 2006 and since that time always wanted to come back. The visit in February was so pleasant in all means, wonderful breakfast overlooking the ocean. Shalene and Gerhard create a very nicely and homely atmosphere and recommend nice bathing places just outside the house but also the local beaches. Their local knowledge and attachment to the place is really worth a stay and Marebella. Gerhard is a wonderful tourist  guide and recommend places and other bed and breakfast places with good and safe quality. I will always return to the this place. I recommend the place highly. You can take long walks and the scenery is stunning. I hope to come back soon. 

De Kelders with Gerhard Shalene to discover Gansbaai Bay and Hermanus, a secret tip everyone should know.

3 times South Africa, 3 times in beautiful Marebella. This is the ideal place to explore the spectacular coastline between Hermanus and DeKelders.
Almost even better, Shalene's breakfast, prepared with a lot of love.

I'm Filippo, Im Italian. My wife Patrizia and me we went to Marebella, Shaleene and Gerhard's guesthouse, at De Keders for (unfortunately only) a couple of days before leavings for Kruger park.
We had our best stay in South Africa there! 
Marebella is fantastic and in a wonderful position. The coast is very interesting with ancient caves to visit and fabulous beaches. 
Most important is that we've found new friends because Shaleen and Gerhard are not only excellent in welcoming guests but they know how to create bonds that go well beyond Marebella's environment.
We will forever remember the sweet breakfasts on the terrasse with that astonishing view and the good talks when we drunk a fantastic "millesimé" as aperitif!
We hope to have them as our guests in Italy this summer and for sure we'll come back again to Marebella in the good whale season! (July - November).

A beautiful villa with seafront view!
I had a perfect stay at Marebella and enjoyed very much the weekend in De Kelders and the surroundings.

Our first visit to Marebella. Gerhard and Shalene welcomed us warmly to their beautiful modern home full of history from their life, which they are more than happily to share. Gerhard and Shalene are very friendly and helpful with advice and booking of restaurant and activities nearby. The location is very beautiful with an admirable sea view where you can spot whales! I would without hesitating recommend everyone to stay with Gerhard and Shalene if you ever want to go De Kelders and do some whale watching.

Our second visit to Marebella   ... Gerhard and Shalene welcomed us warmly to their beautiful  modern home.  The views are spectacular.  The house is in a perfect position and the rooms which are on the ground floor are very comfortable and quiet. Very comfortble base

Shalene and Gerhad were wonderfully friendly and helpful hosts. They obviously take great pride in and care of their home.The Marbella is so clean and well-kept. I loved the beautiful natural art work that decorated the home. I was taking pictures of almost every different part of the house and walls. The rooms are very spacious. The surroundings are quiet and the views of the Walker Bay are simply unbeatable.

Breathtaking views from the house anytime of the day and night!

We stayed with Gerhard and Shalene at Marebella recently and what a joy it was, not only for the superb location, but for the kindness and helpfulness of both Shalene and Gerhard.

The location is simply stunning, a view right out on the bay, where you may even spot whales from the bedroom! How many places can you say that!

We had to rely on Gerhard and Shalene's local knowledge for whale watching trips and for local restaurant bookings etc and for that we are truly grateful.

As mentioned, people talk about a 'room with a view', this is something else, it is jaw dropping, especially when the sun lights up the bay. It is a very attractive coast with a very rugged rocky coastline which makes for very good walking, again Gerhard and Shalene can give you details on where to go and what to see etc.

Breakfast is plentiful and there were even some homemade bread rolls when we were there, yummy!

De Kelders is a very small place, but people visit here for nature and for the peace and quiet which suited us well, you don't come to De Kelders for the bars and choices of restaurants, - those are left back in Hermanus about 30 min drive away.

All in all, a fantastic stay and a world away from the busy hectic life! Thank you to Gerhard and Shalene for making our stay so memorable!

A fantastic enjoyable stay with lovely people.

Marbella was recommended to us by someone working in tourism in South Africa and we must say: it has fully met excpectations: friendlyness, cleanliness and equipment of rooms is excellent. The view is gorgeous. Besides this, the owners supported us prior to our stay regarding booking of our whale watching tour, which we really enjoyed. We received worthful information on things to do nearby and on very nice restaurants (e.g. Mama Ritas). We stayed at Marbella with our eight year old daughter and can say that this place should be on your bucket list whenever you come to visit the Garden Route.
