Waterfront Resort Lake Kivu

I stopped here for a late lunch with friends and a swim in the lake. The place is surreal and offers a wonderful view of lake Kivu. We ate some local food and had the coolest waiter who made it an all round pleasant experience. While the prices are probably on the high side, I wouldn’t expect anything else with such a location. Worth a visit, would’ve loved to stay a little longer!

Good place to relax , The food is really great however prices are slightly high. I spent there 2 days and you end up realizing that you could do more things with only the rent. But in general it is a not to miss place while in Rwanda 

Gorgeous property and excellent customer service!!  The view is to die for.  At times, there were issues with availability of hot water, but you make sure you shower early or late.  There was a guy name (Fashule (sp?), who was amazing.  He went out of his way to make sure we were happy and i felt like he went above and beyond every day.  The DJ jammed every night and we loved it.  All in all, I loved the experience of the outside bathroom.  It was beautiful.  We charted a small boat on Lake Kivu and went to the hot springs.  It was nice and there is a very small fee (the fee is smaller, if you're Rwandan...our interpreter helped us with that).  GREAT overall!!  It was the potential to be AWESOME!

Gem of a place for great views&food

Beautiful gem with potential

Honeymoon 

There is no doubt that this is a great location and has a beautiful garden, but these two factors cannot truly compensate for the hotels dilapidation. We booked in online thinking we were going to get a rondavel, but instead got taken to an upstairs room along a very dangerous staircase and landing. It was literally falling over and wired on to the building. I complained and said I was not willing to walk on this structure and further told them that as a building practitioner I felt it was dangerous. While I was appreciative that we were relocated, when I mentioned the danger to one of the managers he told me "We are waiting to get permission to build a new structure, but, you know, this is Africa". For me, I found it irresponsible, potentially negligent, that the owners would continue to allow guests to stay in these rooms and use the staircase after acknowledging that it was in poor condition.
The room we got after this had a crappy bathroom that smelt of faeces in general the room was old and tired. The staff worked hard to be as positive as possible and were very nice but clearly they were holding the place together. Food was reasonable. Internet very patchy.

Great location but dilapidated, dangerous.

The location is great with a beautiful lawn overlooking the lake. I was pleased to come to this serene spot until the noise started. The first night there was traditional drumming from 8 pm - 11 pm. Then the next day the DJ started at noon with music that shook our room all day long. The music blared until well into the night. Only come if you like living inside a night club--clearly there's no commitment that serenity. Will never come back!
