V Tapochkah Hostel

It’s uncommon, at least for me, when your lodging actually enhances your trip and your impression of a city, but Hostel V Tapochkakh (a mouthful) fits the bill. Regina, the owner, was an incredible host and made me feel as comfortable as if I were staying at my sister’s or an aunt’s. I arrived very early from the train station to drop off my bags. She apologised that my room wasn’t ready (at 8 am, I had no such expectation), but offered to let me shower - much appreciated after an overnight journey! The people in my room checked out early, so by the time I finished my shower, she let me check in. The room was small but comfortable, but it was really the graciousness of Regina that made the difference in my stay. She also helped organise multiple taxi trips, and offered tips on the city. The place is spotless. Tip: The entrance isn’t visible from the street nor well marked. Walk through the door in the black metal fence through the small parking lot to get to the building towards the rear.
