Russkoe Podvore Hotel

This is an ultra good value hotel. I stayed for 2 nights in Feb 2013 in a single room with separate shower outside for 700 rubles/ night. (including breakfast) (Winter is low season. Rostov Veliky is hot vacation place for Moscow. Price will be higher but still budget friendly in Summer) The room is fine, bright, clean and with toilet & sink. You can get bottle water from a dispenser in the corridor. The shower room is modern design. Water pressure is a bit weak though. Only staffs in reception speak some English. But others are friendly and helpful enough to assist with body language. Wifi is not in room. Only in reception. Good enough to check email and touch base with friends daily. (It is difficult to find wifi in whole Rostov Veliky!) If you ever stay in this hotel, you MUST try their restaurant. Lonely Planet says this may be the best restaurant in town. It is absolutely true. Relatively cheap and they accept credit card. You can choose breakfast daily. They cook it and serve it hot. This hotel is 1.5km in city centre from train/bus station. The walk to find the hotel with beautiful scenery & houses along the main road is already captivating. The magnificent Kremlin is just behind the hotel. After drinking in the beauty of Kremlin, you can easily walk to Lake Nero just shortly behind the Southern end of Kremlin. In term of money, food, location, convenience, I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Rostov Veliky. (By the way, this hotel is NOT in Rostov-on-Don where is far, far away)
