I had an excelent stay at Casa Balcescu Brasov! Went with my family and spend 3 wonderfull nights there. The location was one of our motivation to book at Casa Balcescu - in the city center, hidden from the noise of the town. Well soundproof windows. We had place where to take our groceries as there was fridge/microwave/oven/coffee machine/kettle. (Mrs Camelia took care to have tea/coffee/milk powder every day). For sure I will get back to this lovely accommodation and beautiful town. Mount Tampa view from our room was breathtaking every day!

This stay is right in  the city center of Brasov and the rooms are very spacious! It was a big room, with a big bathroom. There was a common room with a television. The bed slept very good. Unfortunately the shower wasn't perfect, because you had to hold it to shower properly. Camelia was the host and she was very sweet and helpful. It was a very pleasant stay in Brasov!

Nice, clean place very close to the Old City's center place. Right in the middle of all the important landmarks and dinners. The staff is very friendly and and polite. Definetly going to visit again soon.

Positive: Really friendly staff. Pleasurable ambiance. Romantic without hi-tech. I slept well because of no disturbing noise. Free Wifi. Location: excellent. At the Council’s Central Square -2min. What could be better: There was not enough space in the room to work on my laptop.

We rented 2 rooms for 2 couples, quite ok and clean. The house is very Close to the old city Center and for that big plus it worth it! We were also satisfied with the Nice view from the balcony and we had out morning coffees there. The atmosphere is quite Nice, nothing luxurious, but we would come back. Quick Weekend Escape

"NICE AND COZY"

So the place is okay, not too good, not too bad either. The rooms are fairly well equipped, but the building looks 2 steps away from crumbling down, and it's more than just a "cute old building", it really looks poorly taken care of.

So if we would have just visited, without any human interaction, for the price we paid, it would've been probably 4/5 stars. However, I was extremely pissed off in the first 10 minutes of my arrival there. Not only we had to wait for the host, because they didn't live in the place (which, I mean... is understandable), but as soon as they came we were "welcomed" with the surprised face of the owner asking: "Ow, are you Romanian? Interesting, because we don't host Romanians, I thought you were Dutch". My answer was: "Uhhmm, yeah, I've been living in The Netherlands for about 4 years, but I'm Romanian, is that an issue? We're only bothering you for one night", and it wasn't that obvious afterwards that it was only a joke. At that moment I wished I had the financial freedom to just leave a.s.a.p.. I haven't felt as unwelcome anywhere else in Europe (where I was actually an expat). 

I can take jokes, I usually make plenty of them, but I don't take this kind of comments lightly, and it really messed the mood for the stay there. No way I'd go back, nor recommend the place until there's an attitude change.
