A fantastic place to stay, clean flat, the kitchen has everything what you need, great and very friendly personnel, pretty garden, nice pool, just perfect. We would come again!
Lagos is not far away and the sandy beach invited for swimming.

We have been spent 7 hoidays in Buganvilia. We experienced several apartments, all with different interiors but always the same perfect quality of luxury accomodation. The beautiful sea view, swimming pool, very caring and friendly staff for gardening, cleaning and reception. We feel like at home away from home in this place. The very long and quite sandy beach Meia Praia is a short walk away. The transport  is perfect. The bus, the train Linha do Algarve and a sweet small touristic train all to be reacht by walking in 5-10 minutes. So it is easy to reach the centre of Lagos with a wonderful Marina, Drawbridge, Market hall, shops , restaurants and bars everywhere. Wooden walking trails along the beach make you want to walk around the place all day.

Buganvilia is a smaller apartment complex located on Meia Praia outside the main city of Lagos.  It is truly a home away from home with all of the comfort and amenities one could want.  The bonus is a large veranda that looks out over the sea.  You can reach the beautiful beach of Meia Praia in 2 minute by car or a 5 minute walk.  Buganvilia is conveniently located so that you can access downtown in less than 10 minutes.  If you like a quiet place that feels like home with stunning views, this is the place. This is the 4th time my husband and I have rented here and will be returning next year.   We would highly recommend Buganvilia!

Getting there
When we arrived, after midnight, a member of staff was waiting for us to show us our apartment. This was after he had guided our shuttlebus driver to the complex, which in fairness, was hard to find for someone who is not familiar with the environment. Buganvilia is situated on the top of the hill (was provides all apartments with an ocean view) behind hotel yellow. There are no signs oddly enough pointing you in the right direction and the satnav was struggling as well. Follow the sign ‘hoteis’ up the hill and you’ll find it.

Staff
The staff (including cleaners) were very friendly and accommodating! We booked a two bedroom apartment but got a one bedroom apartment on the day of arrival. When we went to pay she asked us if we wanted a bigger apartment or stay and pay less. We choose to pay less as the one bedroom apartment was more than sufficient.

Apartment
The apartment was spacious and spotless, and offered to clean every (week!)day and have our towels renewed if we wanted. The kitchen was spacious and very will kitted out. The bathroom was clean and plenty spacious. The only slightly unfortunate finding was that the double bed was made up from two singles – nothing major but not something we were used to. The balcony was very spacious and the landscaping around it created a sense of privacy and intimacy while enjoying the ocean view.

The Wifi signal wasn’t very strong and could only be received in certain parts of the apartment (lucky for us it was near the sofa!). Also our iPhones didn’t connect well to the signal but iPad and Mac did (?!) just something to keep in mind. The pool was clean and accessible by steps. Sunbeds and parasols were arranged around the pool. 

Getting to Town 
We choose not to hire a car (even though advised by many people) and take taxis when we wanted to. We found that walking into town and to the super market (Doce Pingo) was about 30 minutes and an easy walk, but often choose to take a taxi back at around 6 euros one way. 

Beach
The beach is very wide and clean and accommodates those who would like sunbeds and parasols or ones that take their own towel and cosy up in the sand. It was quiet enough but not too quiet and very clean!

Just returned from here today and we have had a wonderful time. Ideally placed for the beach in a nice quite area. Local bus runs into Lagos every hour costs 1 euro 20 or you could walk into Lagos  takes approx  20 minutes either by road, track besides the beach or on the beach. 
We stayed in a two bedroom apartment which was huge, two bathrooms which was cleaned daily....should be higher rated than a three star. 
The gardens are beautiful and the pool was spotless, we would recommend.

We booked a two bedroom apartment at Buganvilia Apartments in Alvor for the last two weeks of August.
Booking was simple and email response to queries (about car parking on site) was excellent. 
Apartment (AL1C) is large and airy with two ensuite bath/shower rooms and air con (fully operational). One bathroom had a wall mounted hairdryer. 
Storage is ample in each room  and bathroom but bring hangers for clothes if staying more than a few days as there were only a couple in each wardrobe. 
There are shutters on each window to darken the room against the strong sun and to shut out noise (of which more later).
The kitchen was really well equipped with full size fridge/freezer (the door didn't close properly so we had to always make sure to shut it firmly) a decent hob and oven plus kitchen table/chairs and a washing machine in adjacent room and a clothes airer. Also microwave and iron/ ironing board plus first aid box. 
Large lounge/diner with a small settee (seats 2) and one armchair, to and coffee table. TV supplied. 
Balcony area overlooking the rear countryside was quite limited in size with a small table and four chairs with large air con unit overhead. 
Kitchen equipment and crockery etc supplied was more than sufficient for self catering needs for family of four. 
A couple of minor issues, the electric lighting was insufficient in the apartment, with a few light bulbs missing in the lounge, bedroom and bedside lamp making it difficult to put make up on and read at night.
Noise was a slight issue for us here - there were two large dogs in a property adjacent to the apartments. They bark incessantly and particularly if they see/hear anyone approaching outside. Added to this was some yapping from a dog staying in one of the apartment.  It was pretty annoying especially if you sat outside on your balcony of a
morning or evening or were sunbathing around the pool in the day time.  Perhaps others don't mind this - we struggled - and only spent limited times around the pool area as a consequence. 
Maid service daily except Mondays with full towel change - they even ventured into the teenage daughters' room and made up beds and tidied up which believe me is not for the faint hearted!
Security on the site is very good with gated access, including to the on site car park and the pool area. A safe is provided in each apartment. 
Staff at reception (at the Buganvilia Gym) especially Isa were very helpful and spoke good English (our Portuguese being very limited) so there were no issues on arrival with registration or leaving. 
Overall good clean accommodation with some slight grumbles mentioned above but at a  reasonable cost (for high season) when compared to other villas we considered near Vilamoura for the same period. 
Best local supermarket within walking distance was the Pingo Doce which stocks most everything you might need food and beverage wise. 

We had an excellent two weeks here. The apartments are spacious and clean, all with a good kitchen including dishwasher. All apartments are sea facing. The view from our balcony was very good, although somewhat spoilt by the building of a new hotel in front of these apartments which now partly obscures the sea.
Location is great, 5 minutes from the beautiful Meia Praia beach. This beach is 5 km long and is fabulous, although too busy at Alvor on one side, and too busy at Lagos on the other side, but at Meia Praia is not at all busy. The pool is quite large and not at all busy, which is great.
Lagos town is the nearest, which really needs a taxi ride though these are easy to book and plentiful - cost between 5 Euro and 10 Euro.
I would recommend, though they do need to sort out WiFi - advertised but did not work at all for the 16 days we were there. The DVD player in our room did not work and no one could fix as the receptionist said all apartments are privately owned and only the owner could sort this out!!
Good accommodation at a reasonable price.
