Such an amazing place; a magical setting and the perfect spot from which to explore northern Portugal (only 45 mins from Porto). The 16th-century converted monastery is stunning and the rooms are beautifully decorated, with lovely views of the gardens, courtyard and fountains. We spent a week here in mid-September, and enjoyed swimming in the beautifully clear spring-fed pool, as well as walking from the hotel up to the nearby hilltop Chapel. Breakfasts were delicious, and the English owners couldn't have been more helpful with advice about where to go and what to see in the area. Couldn't recommend more highly.
