Adriano Spa

As a couple, we had the pleasure of spending the week of Christmas at Adriano Spa and confirm that the staff does an excellent job of making you feel welcome! The front desk staff is friendly and helpful, doing their best to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. Janusz was helpful and speaks fluent English. The food is well beyond typical "hotel food", chef Tad works magic at making local fare interesting and delightful! His experience as a chef in Italy is noticed in his attention to details! His traditional Christmas Eve dinner should be experienced by anyone interested in sampling what Poles feast on during the holidays! One unique feature is that guests can reserve the huge jacuzzi and sauna for themselves. We took advantage of this nightly and also arranged for a couples therapeutic massage. We also had the pleasure of meeting the owner and his family and they adopted us as one of them- typical as to how friendly Poles from southern regions can be. We chose to stay in one of the two apartment suites, located on the top floor. The living/ dining room and kitchen were bright with plenty of windows and a skylight. Our room also had a balcony with a beautiful mountain view that allowed listening to the adjacent trickling stream. The queen bed was comfortable, and the bathroom looked recently updated with a jetted bathtub and automatic radio. Our living room had a fireplace and wood was delivered to our door daily. Free Wi-Fi was available in the room. Because our trip was during Christmas week, special activities were planned for the guests in addition to the Christmas dinner. One evening the Spa arranged for a naturalist whose passion was how different forms of music are used in communicating. While the presentation was in Polish, it was nonetheless proved that music is a universal language as it was entertaining and somewhat understandable to those not fluent in Polish! The following night, a bonfire was arranged and we cooked a Kielbasa on sticks and drank hot spiced wine well into the night! Although Ustron is primarily a destination for local Polish vacationers, (located less than 2 hours south from Katowice), it is one that will certainly grow in popularity once discovered by "foreigners". The Spa is located immediately adjacent to a ski lift that boasts a cafeteria at the summit. This area, however, is most popular for ski jumping enthusiasts as Ustron's more popular neighbor, Wisla, is the home to Poland's Olympic gold medal champion and hosts a world class jump. Weather cooperated for us to experience a sleigh ride through the forest at night and also a quaint mountain top inn, where we sat next to a roaring fire with our beer and hot spiced wine and spent hours watching the snow fall. The front desk assisted in arranging these outings. We can't wait to return!
