I have been a longtime visitor surfer since 1992 and personally have nothing but positive experiences in such a pleasant, quiet, quaint resort with a fabulous garden. Not to mention they have the best Japanese chef in town and apparently she trained in Japan. This is in addition to their superb Filipino dishes in which the family has been serving since 1992. I would also like to point out that Villa Estrella is the ONLY resort on the strip serving since 1992. This place caters to celebrities, politicians families they have a beautiful indoor heated pool and the service is excellent. I highly recommend the place! 
Try not to miss the magical sunset too, with a beer in hand or while paddling with a kayak!
Comfy beds too! Thank you for the hospitality!

The best spot to stay when in La Union!

Bad quality, unkept and unhygienic. Avoid going and waste of money. Smells bad, there also was dropping of mice and rats around which seem to have gone unnoticed. Hotel seems to be run by a very odd management, unprofessional, unethical and illegal

Avoid. Bad dirty place

The facilities are still spic and span, exactly the way I remember it from the mid-2000s. We booked two rooms, one for me and the wife, one for the kids. Their rooms are huge for the price you pay for! It had two twin-sized beds, a powerful aircon, and a flat-screen TV. The design (the floor, the door, the closet, etc.) reminds me of my grandparents’ house in the 80s! =) 

So in a nutshell:

PLUS:
- The room was big and well-appointed for the price we paid.
- The aircon units and the TV were relatively new.
- The room has free WiFi, and as per my kids, it was working fine and was surprisingly fast. 
- The location was good, it was along the highway, easy to find, and somehow you still get a beach front just walking down from the hotel’s restaurant.
- The staff in general were very friendly and provided hands-down very good service. They were expecting us when we arrived and they read all my requests from my Agoda booking.
- The grounds were big, parking was aplenty. 
- They have an indoor/shaded pool that was a welcome addition from the Villa Estrella of the old days. The pool had a small jacuzzi as well. Something you can dip in as late as 10:00 in the evening. 
- Food is reasonably priced, and we were surprised many of the items were actually very good. Had a total of 4 meals in their restaurant while we were checked in.
- Short drive to San Fernando City (5-10 minutes), where many popular restaurants are located, e.g. Shakey’s, Yellow Cab, Jollibee, Chowking, Gerry’s Grill, etc. 

DELTA:
- The bathrooms inside the guest rooms need to be updated: (a) tiles are broken, (b) shower faucet is hard to operate, (c) main bathroom door is hard to close; (d) exhaust fan is dirty, (e) water was ponding in the shower, takes time to drain down, etc.
- The door knob of our room broke on our second day. We cannot open the door to go inside the room no matter how we tried. The maintenance person broke the knob, then consequently replaced it. We lost some 30-40 minutes watching over the replacement to be completed. And the resort would not even allow us to check out late to make up for the lost time.
- The doors to the rear balconies have to be fixed/realigned. In our room, the dead bolt would not want to latch, at least the barrel bolt worked, but effort had to be exerted to close it. In the kids’ room, the door itself was difficult to close, it seemed out of alignment. Then the floor in the balcony of the room of the kids had water that already had green moss in it. Wonder when that was last cleaned.

As a conclusion, the resort has a beach front but the shoreline is really short. Then the sand is fine but is not white; albeit it was really smooth, there were no rocks or seaweeds in the area. Sitting in the restaurant gives you a very calming view of the sea. Really had no hard issues with the resort. Hope they upgrade their bathrooms though.

Reasonably-priced rooms, good location, good food, but bathrooms really needs improvement

We stayed in this hotel for business purposes and after check out, I have realized that I forgot to ask for the guest folio which is required for my liquidation. I have contacted the hotel via email and Vilma promptly replied to me with the scanned copy of my guest folio. This is a commendable action from their service staff.
As for the hotel's location, it is a beachfront hotel so you can enjoy your free breakfast while enjoying the view of the sea. The rooms are spacious and the beds are comfortable. The bathroom is also spacious and hot water is available.

Excellent customer service even after checkout

The good:
- relatively affordable price per night
- we booked the night before so their availability was good timing for us!
- room and comfort room were spacious
- cable tv and ref
- with parking
- we got the free breakfast deal
- courteous staff
- the restaurant was by the sea. nice view
- staff in restaurant was helpful
- aircon was good. Overall we still had a good night’s sleep which was really the purpose of our stay here - to rest after 5 hrs on the road

The bad
- Bedsheets and pillow cases had yellow stains and lots of strands of hair on both beds. We requested to have it changed which they did but the staff was hesitant at first saying it was nothing. But later on he helped us. Not sure why they even allow stained sheets to be used again in the first place
- Found strands of hair at the entrance of the CR. We ignored but still..
- Found strands of hair on one of the towels so we decided not to use them. Did not bother to inspect the other one. We used the towels we packed for our trip for washing our face etc. 
- Bathrooms walls by the shower was so dirty. Dry but you know it is not being cleaned. Since this hotel was our last stop before heading home, I decided not to take a bath, same for our toddler. 
- We were very suspicious as the hours went by. When we asked for water, they gave us a pitcher. We had to inspect since we were wary already. It turned out there was a floating small black speck thing so we decided not to drink it. It was potable I am sure but we were already very cautious at this point about the cleanliness of everything

Sayang because the place looks “nice” with its old look and feel. :(

Spacious but not clean

The hotel is old which adds to its charm in my opinion but the room smells a bit musty. The bathroom is huge though..the resto was ok, beachfront but the beach isnt ok for swimming..nor walking (maybe bec it was high tide). Their swimming pool looks like a recent addition. It was small but clean and indoor too so it wasnt too hot. It wasnt too deep as well so you can relax and watch the kids enjoy the pool without getting in as well. It was an "ok" resort, the price is just right, nothing too fancy.

Old but clean..small and quiet

We were very lucky to find this place after traveling to Bauang with a hotel booked and paid for for 5 nights we were so disappointed that after one night we had to move (Adriana see my other review)we found Villa Estella just a couple of hundred meters down the road and although nearly fully booked they managed to fit us in and we were totally made to feel welcome and nothing was to much trouble for the staff the restaurant was on the edge of the beach and of an evening the gentle waves just rolled up to the foot of the dinning area very reasonably priced clean comfortable friendly what more could you want spent 4 nights there over Christmas and would recommend 100%  Nelie & Michael
