Villa Solaria

Bang for the buck and value for money. They’re located next to nightlife and restaurants, but still quiet enough to have a lazy day and read a good book in the resort lobby area. This is not a luxurious fancy hotel and we were realistic with our expectations when we booked our accommodation less than 1500 php, but after 3 days at Solaria I can say that they will get my repeat business every time I visit the island. When the island’s water supply was fluctuating (all resorts on that strip), they made sure to deliver fresh 5 gallon containers of fresh water until the island’s water supply normalized, then they gave our entire group breakfast and apologized for the previous night’s water interruption. The staff are polite and helpful. The manager (biggest guy on the property) is very knowledgeable and informative when it comes to island activities or surf locations. He rented out 4 scooters to our group and they were very honest (unlike some of the other tourist trap motorcycle rental companies) and up-front about their rental policy (gas and damages etc.), although we beat up those scooters in the rain and even dirt paths, there were no additional charges and we didn’t have to worry about malfunctions as their bikes were almost brand new. The owner (I think he’s the owner) had some friends visiting and they had setup video games and a big screen TV and after our days activities they even invited our group to join them for drinks and some video games. He’s very much welcoming and hospitable but not very good at Tekken. Laid back surfer vibe throughout the property, but the staff are definitely attentive. Overall I will return as they really made us feel welcome and comfortable and took extra steps to accommodate us.
