Quaint old style bungalows in a lovely courtyard and garden. i A few steps from the beach... in the midst of now bustling Boracay.
Meeting Melinda was a wonderful experience.... She has many intersting stories for how Boracay has evolved since she opened Melinda's Garden in the late 1980's..

We stayed at Melinda's as we wanted to stay in a more authentic place in Boracay, compared to a modern soulless concrete hotel and we stumbled on a gem! We arrived at 11pm and despite waking Melinda up, she was extremely helpful and got us an aircon room on the ground floor. The next day we moved to one of the upper floor fan rooms (which we would recommend over the aircon rooms). The room was great, nice simple bathroom and lovely balcony. Melinda and her dogs are extremely friendly, she has been going since 1989 and was one of the first hotels in Boracay and has some great stories. We stayed for four nights, had clean towels halfway through the stay and they provide hot water for coffee everyday also. We loved this place as it has great value nipa style rooms, set around a lovely garden, in a great location just back from the beach, amongst all the development of modern Boracay. If you want a slice of old Boracay, head here!

We stayed here for 5 nights and mostly enjoyed our stay. The garden is beautiful and even have lights in the evening. Very convenient with hot water and coffee powder served on the veranda, would be even better if they would serve tea bags as well. 

The rooms are big and the bed is comfortable. The mosquito net around it looks cozy and luxurious. It's fantastically quiet at night even though that the window in the room is made of bamboo (no glass or isolation). 

Downsides: 
We had to ask for a room switch when we arrived because we discovered bed bugs in our first, which was very sad since that first room had a larger bathroom. After two worryless nights, we saw two cockroaches in the bathroom when we were going to sleep. The reception was closed so we had to try going to sleep hoping that they wouldn't seek shelter in any of our clothes or bags. 

The next day, there was a big cockroach on our room floor, which we asked the staff to remove immediately and they did. They also said that they'd put some spray in the room to remove the insects. 

This place is a chill basic place for a good price. We stayed here for 5 nights. It is simply so don't expect luxury. It was just our style. We enjoyed the construction of the bamboo bungalows. The hammocks and porches were a great place to enjoy the coffee and tea provide every morning. Melinda was very sweet during check in and throughout our stay.
The wifi was strong. We would come back if given the chance.

Wonderful!!

This was one of the worst experiences in a hotel in my entire trip. Planned to stay here for a week but checked out after the first night. It does not look like they clean the rooms at all. I didn't expect it to be extremely clean, but it was FILTHY.  I hope you like spiders. 
Avoid avoid avoid.
