From the start they were really accommodating with early check in and being easygoing and flexible when our travel plans were disrupted. Went the extra mile to make our stay really comfortable with lots of little details that we really appreciated. Excellent communication beforehand, responsive during our stay and just an all round professionally run hostel

The staff were very accommodating and helpful. It was a great base for our visit to Cusco. It was cheap, but great value accommodation. It was a bit of a hike up the hill, but good to be some acclimatization before we did the Inka Trail.

Although the building of the hostel is old and the rooms and breakfast quite simple, this hostel is definitely worth to book. It is locaties in the hippest neighbourhood and street of cusco. Besides, Luis and the other staff are very friendly and warm people who are always willing to help in any way they can!

We spent a very nice moment in this hostel. The room are nice and clean. The people are very amazing, available and amaible. The localisation is perfect in the center of Cusco. I recommend for everyone.

This is a lovely hostel located in San Blas area. There are lots of nearby restaurants and it’s close to the main sights. It’s great value for money; the facilities are clean and nice. A highlight was how friendly the staff were. Breakfast is basic but good with fresh fruit juice, bread, jam and eggs. 

Undiscovered pearl in San Blas! Good price, a la carte breakfast and very nice rooms. Ideal for escaping the crowded centrum and to have some rest before or after a trek. Very good and friendly 24h reception. Had a very pleasant stay!

Very charming place. One of the best quality/price ratios in town ! The staff is nice, breakfast is OK, on a roof with a nice view ! They booked for me a nice trip to machu picchu for a low price. I recommend it !

On a lovely street in Cusco, with blue shutters and an airy interior, we thought we might be onto a winner. We had booked a double but were given a twin. As we had just arrived from a flight we went along with it, and it had a nice window onto the street. Unfortunately, the management was the downfall to this place. One night they disturbed us by knocking on our door long past midnight to fix a plumbing "issue" in our bathroom, with no apologies. Another afternoon the hotel was locked and we were unable to get in until another guest opened the door from inside. When waiting in the nice looking foyer, it didnt take long to realise the sofas were wet and mouldy underneath their lovely covers. Don't stay here unless everywhere else is full. Breakfast is ok and the view is lovely.

Breakfast view is only saving grace

When commenting on a photo of Vinicunca Rainbow mountain posted on their Facebook page I mentioned that it was completely fake (the whole thing was photoshopped to bits and looked nothing like the real thing) an employee of the hostal contacted me on Facebook.  He said that he knew that were heavily altered with photoshop,and fake, but didn't care and suddenly started a story about "the photo's are not important, only the arrival". Than he started some bogus story about "respecting his work" and blocking me on Facebook. So if you are looking for a hostel where the employees don't mind lying to their customers, this is it.

Extremely rude social media staff

I created my TripAdvisor account solely to share my experience and advise anyone reading this to avoid doing business with the Hostal Arcano. The manager is a nasty person who was unfriendly and cheated us out of money we payed for services we never received. 

I booked a day trip to rainbow mountain through the hostel manager. We showed up at 3:30, as instructed, and were told to wait for our pick up in the lobby. We were told numerous times by multiple staff members, including the manager by phone, that the bus was on its way to pick us up. Finally after two hours we were told to come back mañana. We informed the manager that we were flying home the next day and that we had been looking forward to this outing. She agreed to refund us our money the next day and offered a day trip to Moray as compensation. Having had our plans ruined we agreed to go on the trip. When the manager arrived she informed us that we would have to pay for the Moray trip and refused to refund the full cost of rainbow mountain. The price she charged was exorbitant and she put us on a bus that spoke Spanish. 

After trying to bargain with her, her only offer was to come back and demand a refund from the midnight shift worker. This final act of dishonesty and cowardice only confirmed to us that this woman was a cheat and terrible human. I truly could not rate my experience lower. 

For those interested in the hostal and have read this far, it's a dump with a single bathroom. There's little privacy, but hey it's cheap. Honestly there are better options in cusco. Stay away.
