Hostal Apu Salkantay

Hostal Apu Salkantay was the perfect place to stay for a few days in Cusco! I was backpacking on a budget with a friend and found this gem. It is very close (2 min walk) to Cusco's main bus terminal, Terminal Terrestre which is great for those wishing to head to other areas of Peru or South America. It is a 20 minute walk away from the main Plaza de las Armas but a 5 minute cab ride will only set you back 4 soles (about $1.30). The hostal was very clean and came with soap, towels, and fast wifi (rare in some other parts of Peru). The owners are also lovely and will answer any question you have about Cusco. They are also accommodating and even let us use their roof to dry some hiking supplies! We left to do the Choquequirao trek and had no problem leaving extra things behind in the hostal for our return. The beds were very comfortable and had warm blankets, a necessity for cold Cusco nights. This hostal represents great value for your money and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Cusco on a budget of interested in bussing to pretty much anywhere.
