Went to this peaceful and very both beautiful and relaxing place after a long drive to Nordkapp with following hike to knivskjellodden. The drive here is so worth it, its a little far from everything else, and the "road" there is bumpy and only getting smaller, but I loved it all the way.
The food there is very delicious, the staff is from around the world and very friendly and helpful.
Do sleep here a night or two if you are in the area it's so worth it!

Small piece of heaven

We arrived on a rainy motorcycle, so the 3.7 km of dirt road is not the end of the world in a car: just go slowly and pay attention. The satisfaction of this effort is to get to a place that has something magical. Everything is taken care of: from the garden to the alleys, from the rooms to the common halls, to the patios.

A gem in Norwegian nature.

This was such a perfect place to stay, a real wilderness experience, deep in the middle of the forest. My log cabin was clean, warm and comfortable. The breakfast and evening meals were delicious and Marija was the perfect host. It was a lovely experience to feed the reindeer. I was able to request a lift from Alta and a transfer to the airport as it is so remote there but I was so pleased I discovered this little piece of paradise.  I would highly recommend.

What a terrific place. When I booked it on booking,com I didn’t know what to expect. On arrival I thought wow this is beautiful. Cabins are really nice. Main house looks great. So warm. Meals are traditional and good. We tried the reindeer stew (it was good) and it was followed by a yummy apple pie. After dinner we went out and feed their reindeers. They have a gorgeous dog called blue. Whom funnily enough is Australian too, like us 😄 She is very friendly and loves attention. I can’t recommend this place enough. There are some nice walking tracks and a nice little creek runny by. Id love to come
Back and check it out on winter.  

Something Special. 

Our stay was short and out of season. (June 6) The rooms are uninspired, we knew that but when we arrived we were given one that had, a favourite spot for the hotel. There is a very nice puppy walking around there:) You can see the reindeer they have in a stable. The breakfast is right, for the Spaniards it would be what we know as a continental hotel breakfast. The room is very cozy and clean. If you read more comments you will see that they comment on the road, of course, we came in a 4x4 and without any problem but in a car you may have to drive carefully but I saw a Mercedes go in and get there. A very quiet place where I think you have to see a wifi. The opening is quite limited in the rooms, or at least in my last room that was in the coffee house without any problems.

Ongajok mountain lodge is located far away from civilisation, but that is about the only positive about it. When we booked the website showed doublesize nice looking bedrooms with on-suite bathroom. At arrival we were accomodated in a lousy room with a 120 cm bed with a thin uncomfortable matras. The badroom was equiped with a eco like toilet and a small cervant. No private shower included in the room.

Diner was expensive to litle and very simple. We hired one snowscooter with guide for 3 h for the nice price of nok 3500,- that ment a tour with 2 people on one scooter. There are better offers avaible.

Conclusion. Artic Norway is worth a visit, bud you rather avoid a stay at Ongajok. To EXPENSIVE, To low standard.

I can say that I've seen many places in my life but this is without a doubt the best place I've ever been. (laughs aside) It was hard to get there, we crossed three bridges and planted a herd of cows but it's worth it.

The True Meaning of the Word Charming

The lodge is up a valley half an hour's drive from Alta. The lodge itself is simple but comfortable. The experiences of seeing the Northern Lights, driving a dog sleigh, meeting reindeer and snow-shoeing across frozen lakes are really magical. The (mainly young) staff are very friendly and enthusiastic. The wood-burning sauna is exhilarating when the temperature outside is well below freezing. Don't forget to bring crampons or shoes that are good on ice.

Charming and unforgettable experience

This isn't a hotel but a hot table......dinner at 7pm flat dessert tea (frugal dish) and dodo....in the room not very big, no TV but free wifi a little whimsical...take a good booklet....electric heating so next to you you have hot at 1m50 it's already more the same...it's a little cold so put yourself under the two couches and read....the bathroom is small and the shower is suitable for a very medium size person let's say not more than 1m65 and weighs not more than 55 kg....sweet or overloaded pondera pondle will be loose to organize you or shower with the collar to your peel....I've just seen a horrendous...

You'll lose some weight and see it can be a beautiful northern lights.

How were 2 nights in December in the lodge. Great location in the deep snow forest :) We booked a snowmobile tour (it was great!) and a reindeer visit (completely superfluous and overpriced!) To the lodge: I think the prices for the equipment are too high. We booked a normal (small!!) room. The natural toilet is a plumpsklo!! The normal bathrooms do not have any better shower rooms so you have to use the communal bathroom by the dirty sauna.
