Red Pepper Popoyo

The red pepper is one the best place we have stayed in Nicaragua, i highly recommend those guys, they have done an amazing job with the place, the attention to details, everything is well thought out and very well looked after, clean and pretty. The kitchen has everything you need, its 2min walk from the beach, the rooms are beautiful and clean, and the thai curry on monday night was delish.
Def stay there if you are in popoyo!

While we have not stayed at Red Pepper, we have enjoyed several dinners during their Monday curry night and Wednesday noodle night specials.  The owners prepare around 25 servings for those special events held just 2 nights per week.  Make sure you reserve in advance, because you don't want to miss this!  

The dinners are delicious, generous portions (enough to save some for lunch the next day - bring your own takeaway container or pay a deposit to use one of theirs), and very reasonably priced ($8 each).  The meals are available with chicken or vegetarian - same price.  Make sure to save a little room for fresh key lime pie too!  

Each time we consider a trip over to the Guasacate area on the coast, we always try to include Monday and/or Wednesday stays...simply so we can partake of Red Pepper's amazing dinners.  If you're in the area, you owe it to yourself and your taste buds to enjoy at least one of their special dinners.

We enjoyed two really tasty meals here whilst we were staying in Popoyo. They only have a set number of dishes each night (approx 25, you can make a reservation in the day) of one set main. We had peanut sauce noddles one night and then another night we had yellow curry with almonds and rice. Everything can be made veggie as we had at no extra cost. Very tasty, generous portions and great value. We also tried the key lime pie which was so good! Would highly recommend. 

I enjoyed every minute of my stay at Red Pepper. The rooms are beautiful designed with an eye for detail and many features. Each of the 4 private rooms comes with their own roof top terrace with chairs, table and hammock. From there you have an excellent view of the beach, which is about 50 meters away. You sleep with the soothing sound of the crashing waves - loved it! Theres also special food nights with curry night being the most popular. The owners, the lovely Mariken and Mark from the netherlands, always make sure your stay is as enjoyable as possible and go the extra mile for their guests. The atmosphere is very friendly and relaxed. Everything is super clean and tidy and theres a little kitchen in the main courtyard between all the rooms. I cant rate them high enough, i really loved staying at their place.

You must try both the Noodle night and Curry Night! It's absolutely delicious! I can't even describe how good the Key Lime Pie is, we're gonna miss it.  Staff are so nice and friendly too. We even got a sneak peak of the rooms they have available to rent which look awesome! Thanks so much Mariken and Marc.

I had an awesome stay for two weeks in the red Peppers in Popoyo.
I enjoyed the quietness and privacy in the hammock on my private rooftop. The view is amazing.
The room is beautiful with a lot of little details, super clean and has a great shower. It has also the perfect temperature for sleeping.
Marc and Mariken are lovely and make awesome Curry and peanutsauce.
I will come back for sure!

My boyfriend and I spent a week in this guesthouse, and wished we could have stayed longer. If I had to say what was my favourite thing about red pepper , I would not know what to choose between the perfect location of the guesthouse, the awesome private terrasse which is perfect for naps in the afternoon, the kindness of the hosts and the great food they cook few times a week :)
The rooms are very clean, as well as the kitchen , which is fully equiped to cook your own meals.
Don't hesitate to book you won't regret it !

Mark and Mariken are very friendly and helpful - they shared tips on the local area and made us feel completely at home! The other staff is great too.

The facility is spotless, well-decorated and super organized. It's beautiful - and the view of the ocean from the terrace is amazing!

Great accomodation in Popoyo! The room was spacious with shelving for luggage, a comfortable bed, and nicely designed. The bathroom was also a generous size, with great water pressure in the shower, both the bathroom and bedroom were very clean! Shared kitchen had everything you could need for cooking, and the balcony above the room (private balcony per room) was amazing with hammocks and chairs to have your morning coffee on. We were here for two weeks, our room was cleaned and you only had to ask the hosts for fresh towels, toilet paper etc which they were quick and happy to provide. The owners Marc and Mariken are lovely, friendly people, and were always happy to help. Perfect location, 1 min walk from the beach front and close walking distance to the good surf spots. Lastly, if you stay here you must haev the monday night curry - amazing! We definately recommend staying here.

My partner and I stayed here for a week. The design of the facilities is great. They allow lots of airflow and privacy. Our room was clean and had thoughtful touches. There is a kitchen for all guests to use which is fully equipped and cleaned each day. A weekly curry night is held at the house which is delicious and a fun way to get to know others staying in Popoyo. Marc and Mariken are a lovely couple and we really enjoyed chatting over coffee in the mornings. We envy their home it is such a beautiful place to live. Highly recommend to visit!

It is important to note that we felt completely safe and there is no sign of political unrest around. It is a great time to travel as there our great travel deals and the waves are empty!

Amazing Food!

Loved our stay. Great design with each room having its own rooftop patio. Small 4 room hotel. The owners live onsite wich shows in how well kept the place is. Very lovely helpful owners. They put on a dinner every monday and weds delishes food for a reasonable price.
The negatives are the communal kitchen is a bit small to comfortly fit more than two people. That being said we ran out of propane and mark instantly changed the tank. In 4 minutes we were back cooking again. The fridge and freezer work good to. Ice cubes freeze fast.
