Mokoia Downs B&B

Mokoia Downs is a great choice for your stay whilst exploring Rotorua and it's surrounds. It is located a short drive from the city center and has amenities close by. I stayed in the very comfortable Taranaki Room which had it's own separate bathroom with bath/shower. There is tea/coffee making facilities within the room with cookies and a small fridge. The room was warm and quiet and has bathrobes you can use. Lisa is a great host, knowledgeable of the surrounding area and provided suitable suggestions based on what we wanted to do. She is also a great cook. The homemade muesli and cooked breakfasts were delicious. There were also a selection of cereals, fresh fruit, youghurt and toast complete with a selection of condiments and homemade jam. After a busy day of sight seeing, it was great to be able to unwind in the sun conservatory or on the outside deck. The B&B is located on a small farm with a gentle stream winding through. We could also wander to see the ducks, chickens and sheep. At the time we were staying there were two rescue donkeys also roaming the paddocks. The farm animals were friendly and didn't mind a pat or two. There is also a home cinema room, complete with kitchenette. It's a great way to finish off the day with a movie and popcorn. If you're lucky and drop in at the right season, there is a walnut tree which drops and you can try fresh walnuts. We had a terrific time in Rotorua, made all the better with Lisa making us feel at home during our stay at Mokoia Downs. I would highly recommend.
