Another great stay, good value for money.Our favourite stay in Ohakune

Lovely place. It would be good to have milk available in the kitchen?

We have now stayed at the Hobbit several times and each time has been great. It's not 5-star but it doesn't pretend to be - it's just a good solid Kiwi motel! It's got a nice quiet location, is always very clean and tidy, and is great value for money. The Hobbit will always be our first choice whenever we're in the area.

10 mins  walk to the supermarket and food caravans , coffee . Because the town is very small once you’re at the shops it’s easy to find your way round .

It was more spacious and nice than the photos could portray. We really enjoyed the friendly staff and roomy cozy space. Great heating too, even in the summer when the temperature dropped a lot at night.

Close to town. Great stay for reasonable pricing. Bed was good and good service provided.

I town with a group of relatives for a burial.  We all stayed with The Hobit and were treated with the greatest of respect and top service.  Thank you for great accommodation again.  Look forward to our next stay.

An older property that has been kept up nicely.  Very friendly staff and clean comfy room.  Very quiet area in town and a short drive to restaurants.

Clean and well maintained and very convenient to Ohakune and Mt Ruapehu.

Great Value for money

I stayed in the lodge over a weekend since they were the cheapest in the area. They are about a 10-25 walk to the Ohakune information center so still quite close to town. The lodge has four people rooms but I was able to get one to myself. I booked online and did a self check in since I arrived late at night. the reception is located near the rear of the property, keep an eye out for the signs.
They have a fairly large lodge with a drying room, kitchen and spa. There is quite a bit of parking on the property but it can get quite cramped particularly when there are larger vehicles there. There are two driveways so you can loop around if one way is a bit tight. Be wary that you do need your own towels in the lodge.
Although the rooms are a bit dated, it is still a good value for money and has all the things you would need for a stay. They also have motel rooms available.

Decent Lodge

The apartment  was very warm, clean and had everything we needed, natural  products in the bathroom added a nice touch, we loved the exposed beams for that mountain feel and the outdoor spa was a cherry on top. Good  quiet location while only a close walk to the cafes and supermarket, great service. 

Great for a family stay during a skiing weekend 

Warm reception on arrival. Unit as shown on website. Spa clean and just right temperature. Location midway between township and old railway station meant easy 10 min walk to either. Would have been nice if host introduced himself by name. Better deal if booking direct through their website. Happy to stay again

Mountain Biking weekend

The Hobbit lodge is a great place to stay when visiting Ohakune, it's a short walk into town and even shorter walk to the best burger joint around. It has all the amenities required during a snow trip and the rooms were tidy, large, and we'll equipped. I wish our stay was longer. A nice bonus was having a spa pool to soak in after a day on the snow. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay here again.

Perfect location and amenities

The room was basic but exactly what I needed. Beds were comfortable and warm and the heater in the room was just enough. Shared bathroom was clean and showers were awesome.kitchen was clean and had everything I needed. This place also has the most amazing drying room for your wet ski gear. Only small issue was bunk bed was a bit squeaky. Would defo stay again.

Hobbit motel

One night stopover prior to canoeing on the Whanganui river. The two bedroom unit we had was spacious and well appointed, spotlessly clean and comfortable. It is well placed within walking distance of the town and amenities. Very friendly and welcoming owners. Thank you, we would have no hesitation staying in the future.

Ideal situation.

I stayed here for 3 nights as part of a large group.  Friendly reception, with good briefing on facilities.  My room was well equipped, very clean and comfortable. 

The hotel is situated in a nice quiet location, just a 10 minute walk, or 2 minute drive from the town centre and restaurants.  

If I return to Ohakune, I would happily stay at The Hobbit again.

Good Motel

We stayed here for one night .... nice room with all mod cons including a two ring hob. Decent shower and comfortable beds. The owners are very friendly. Location is great - short walk down to the main road for restaurants and close to a pretty river side walk. We also drove up the hill to the waterfall walk. Recommended! 

Nice room

This is our second stay with The Hobbit Motor Lodge and Fran and Mark were absolutely welcoming and friendly hosts. We'd booked a two bedroom unit and they very kindly upgraded us to one that had cooking facilities as we were staying two nights. Accommodation was spotless, and very comfortable for our family of 4. Fran also asked us what our plans were, and on hearing we were planning on visiting Ruapehu, gave us a 10% voucher to the Sky Waka which was much appreciated!

Our boys enjoyed playing on the trampoline, and it was gorgeous just walking a couple of seconds out of our room to be greeted by the majestic site of Mt Ruapehu. Truly a gorgeous spot. We'll be back!
