The apartment which we had was good and had everything we needed but the big surprise was the dinner we had in the "museumboerderij". Amazing! Especially the tour we got from our host.

Attended the wedding of my daughter and her fiance here.  Beautiful setting.  Unfortunately it was raining for some of the day so the ceremony had to take place inside but it was beautiful here.  I believe it was a former farm but is not partly a museum and also has guest rooms/apartments too.  The food provided was excellent and as the weather improved somewhat we were able to eat outside under some gazebos. Barbecued meats and a lovely buffet spread. And delicious desserts (included a huge baked Alaska type thing.) My husband, other adult daughter, my sister and brother-in-law travelled from Scotland to be there. We were uncertain as to whether there would be food items to cater for one of us who is coeliac but arrangements had been put in place and several dishes were brought out separately for her.  It is a lovely venue for a wedding and we really enjoyed it.

Amazing place!  The apartments are in a new building behind the barn and are spacious, well decorated and retain the countryside feel. The breakfast included is plentiful and tasty. The location is in a small town, but you still feel like you are in the middle of the countryside. Close to some other small towns and plenty of delicious dining options nearby  - including the hotels own restaurant (I heard was good, unfortunately they had a private party when i was there so couldn't try).  An added bonus is they have preserved the front house and parts of the barn as a historical museum of how their family used to live. it was GREAT (and better than some "real" museums you have to pay for). Highly recommend!

The owner was exceptionally helpful. We arrived quite late and she rang a local restaurant for us. Facilities were excellent; spacious rooms and lovely breakfast.

This location and the people who are working here are great. The staff/ owners are so friendly and willing to help you as much as possible. It’s not a typical hotel and it’s even more a B&B, but I would choose this place above any hotel in this area. The rooms are cozy, clean and big. The service is really great. I would recommend this place to everyone. I travel a lot for my work, so I spend many nights in a hotel this place was the best place for me in 2018.

Have been to this place a couple of times.  Always a nice warm welcome.  The accommodation is great, especially if travelling with young children, as the sleeping area is separated from a lounge area.  You can therefore put the kids to sleep and still relax in the lounge.  Tastefully furnished, and really excellent food in their restaurant.  Highly recommended!

Boerderij Hermans Dijkstra is situated in an historic farm house in the town of Midwolda. The property is beautiful and surrounded by well kept and attractive gardens. The farm house contains a monumental building that is still in its original state, including furnishings, house hold articles and accessories from a previous era. (note that the entrance to the restaurant is therefore on the side of the building).  At certain times during dinner (timed at your convenience), short tours are given which provide a unique and interesting insight in the life of the well-off farmers from times long past.

We loved the dinner at the restaurant. The restaurant is only open for walk-ins Thursday through Saturday. The alternate days, you can still have dinner here, but you need to book in advance. The dinner concept consists of a set menu, with a choice for meat, fish or vegetarian. Dinner was delicious and attractively served with decorations of edible flowers from the garden.

A number of spacious apartments are located in a Bed ad Breakfast behind the farmhouse. A perfect spot to stay and enjoy. Topped with the warm hospitality of the owners. Highly recommended.

Fantastic countryside B&B and museum!

Great visit

Excellent choice for long weekend trip.

Just beautiful

We arrived on our motorbikes wet and bedraggled. Even in the cold and rain, this B & B with it's beautifully tended gardens and extremely welcoming owner is a little haven. The owner opened the dry clean barn where the motorbikes were kept for our two night stay.

We were shown to our cosy warm rooms (doesn't do them justice) little apartments, given the wifi code, the general info on the accommodation and surrounding area, offered welcome drinks and light snacks...what a pleasant way to start your stay.

There are bicycles to use, so the train station is a 15min ride away, then a short train ride will take you into Groningen.

This is our second stay, we would not hesitate to recommend this B & B.
