Hoogenweerth Townsuites

We stayed in one of the suites adjacent to Kasteel de Hoogenweerth. We were first called by our receptionist en route to the accommodation to ask for our approximate arrival time. We arrived at about 6.30pm and we we're duly greeted upon arrival and offered a Muffin which was a nice touch. Our suite was called the Soft Suite. The first issue became immediately apparent as the receptionist warned us about the low aperture of the door - unless you're under 5' (2.4m) tall. Despite our best efforts the inevitable happened and we both sustained minor head abrasions. Not what you need or expect. The next issue was the headroom in the 'bedroom' which was basically a mezzanine floor above the living quarters. The headroom here was even less albeit that this was at least manageable but if you are at all physically impaired make sure you do not book this suite. The bedroom is only accessible by a steep set of open plan stairs with no handrail. All very chic but impractical for most. All of that said the suite is otherwise well appointed. Breakfast is delivered to your suite and was of very good quality. Also the adjacent restaurant, the 'Sofa' was very reasonable and the quality of food served was very good. The suite is about 5km outside the city centre which makes for a very pleasant bike ride. We had bikes with us but they are available for rental from reception. All in all a nice place for a day or two but avoid the Soft Suite if you're tall!
