B&B Erve Dikkeboer

We had three nights at Erve Dikkeboer over the Easter weekend with two young children (6 and 5) while visiting family in Gorrsel and Deventer, both about 20 minutes away by car. It is owned and run by Gerrit and Else ter Keurs, who are friendly and welcoming. We stayed in de Bedstee, an apartment with plenty of room for the four of us. The kids slept in the 'bedstee', a high level bed in an alcove. They loved it! It wouldn't be suitable for very young children, but if they are of an age where they can understand that they must not climb down the ladder without an adult, or are capable of doing so carefully, it will be fine. We slept in the bedroom with nice views of the fields through the window. As well as a bathroom with shower (no bath), the main room contained a small sofa, two chairs and tv, plus a kitchette (fridge, coffee filter machine, kettle, hob, sink), table and four chairs. Breakfast is delivered to the apartment at 9am and was very tasty. A mixture of breads (made by Gerrit), local jam and eggs (sometimes boiled, sometimes scrambled and sometimes made into pancakes), plus cheese and meats and orange juice. There was plenty of it and it was delicious. Coffee and tea supplies are available in the cupboard. Overall it was a lovely countryside B&B. Everything was very clean and warm - it was also possible to adjust the thermostat, if necessary. I speak barely any Dutch, though my partner is Dutch, so it's easy for me, but don't worry if you don't speak it as both Gerrit and Erve speak good English, as do most people in Holland. We'll be going back.
