In terms of a place to stay, it ticks all the boxes. The hygiene on the other hand is another story, apart from the fact we were moved rooms whilst out of the hostel, loosing a pair of PJ’s and a fleece in the process  and not informed untill we came stumbling in at 0400 our new room had a genuine villain in it. When we awoke at 1000 the next day we found that one of our lovely room mates had Pooed, yes POOED 💩 on the floor of our room before making a quick exit.  Not just the floor the door handle and sink. 

Once we escaped the room we informed the staff who were less than surprised. Still got the deposit back so 10/10 for customer service. 

Overall not a bad place to stay a bit far away from the centre so is an absolute trek to get back if you can’t obtain a taxi. Beds are comfy enough and showers do the job.

Poo man

Where did I start... receptionist not very welcoming. He asks to pay the rest of the reservation in cash which is not specified anywhere, so if you only have the CB you have to deal with. The household? Nothing. The showers are full of hair and hair the toilet is worse, and I found paper hair and headphone ends in my bed. I said shower: Excuse me? Cabin would be more accurate. The toilet without cover to the bathroom and shower without curtain. A bathroom without cover to the bathroom without curtain. A bathroom without covers for 16, and one on each floor for 75 people, so it's absurd.

Running fast

It’s really terrible after paying with credit cards before arriving they still insist that I must be on arrival with cash . I had to look for another alternative.

Hi I’m here more then one week nice and quiet place easy access to supermarket surrounding by cafe restaurants  bakery and more …, most important very close to the city by walking. I find It nice clean and tidy the staff so friendly and polite and very helpful. 
There’s cantine in the hotel you can bring your own food full kitchen available with all necessary fridge microwave coffee machine…

Peace of mind

Had booked a bed in a 10 bed dorm, but I was put in a 15 bed dorm and told they didn't even have a 10 bed dorm. I had to pay cash, which normally is not an issue, but after I contacted hotels.com support to help  with my situation I found out why it's cash only. As soon as the nice worker from hotels.com said where he was from, they hung up on him and afterwards they didn't pick up the phone, and because it was cash I couldn't get my money when they won't cooperate.The workers at the hostel were rude and kept trying to scam people. I met a Belgian who left the same time as me, and they kept trying to not give her the key deposit back, claiming she didn't pay one, when there was a very clear price of paper with her info and a 10€ bill on it. Scammers.They had no clue about who was staying where in the dorm, people kept getting assigned beds that were taken, there was no ventilation, the bathroom and shower was never cleaned, it was nasty and there was no toilet paper for 2 days despite me telling them there wasn't any.Complete scam, don't go here, not even your booking agency can help you if you go here.

The worst conditions I have ever come across. I do not understand how this place is running. 

My boyfriend and I ( from Australia) checked in on the 31st of July and were planning to stay for 3 nights. We paid cash upfront and were assisted by the staff with a key and directions. (Total amount coming to $306 euros, coming to approximately $512 AUD.) 

Upon reaching our room, we searched for our bed numbers- only to find other people’s belongings on the beds given to us. Some of the other female guests who were Italian explained that the bed numbers on the hostel card don’t correspond to which bed you sleep in and they were told to choose any free bed too.

A staff member came in to assist us with our concerns that someone is sleeping in our specific beds we had paid for. They told us to sleep in another two beds. The state of the room and beds were not to the expectations. The beds we were given to use were also unclean with stains on the bed (see attached picture). When this was brought up with the front desk they gave us blankets for us to change the bedding ourselves.

The staff had no idea who was staying in this room and if the beds were in use. This made us feel very unsafe and unclean. I did not feel comfortable staying in a place where  the staff didn’t know the guests staying in there and where the bed sheets and room standards were so poor.

We immediately spoke to the staff at reception and told them of our concerns. Following this we booked another hotel (for the same price and beautiful private room), last minute and left. Staff told us that management would be able to assist us in receiving a refund (even though we paid in cash?)  

Still awaiting to hear back from management regarding a refund. Heard nothing. Take it from me, if you want to enjoy your stay in Amsterdam, don’t torture yourself and stay here.

Staff have no idea who is staying here. Terrible unclean conditions.

Small  dirty and smelly room , The guy at the reception was rude and didn't want to help. 
Only In the recipe they told us that we need to add more 50 euros for taxes .
The bathroom was very dirty , and the sheets had stamps.
Generally it was good location 
But in the value for money rate it 1 out of 10

Horrible

Please be careful of this hostel.  They advertise prices and payment options and do not honor them.  My son reserved a room for two at the price of 148 Euro and expected to pay with a credit card as the website on Booking.com shows all major cards accepted.

Upon arrival he was told that it was cash only and the total was 168 Euro.  I asked for an invoice and they sent one for 148 Euro and never explained why they only took cash.  I suspect the clerk does this at night to make some extra money.

Buyers beware.  Scam in operation at this hostel.

Terrible service and haven't even stayed there. Booked a stay through their website and found something much better so went ahead to cancel it which on the website says you have to email about it. The first email I send was 2 MONTHS ago. My stay was suppose to be in may. I have yet to receive an cancellation confirmation and has since sent multiple emails about cancellation and called reception which says that only the manager can cancel it and he checks email everyday. Been told several times on the phone that the manager will receive my info and cancel it and still nothing. This is absolutley the worst service I have experienced
